Martha Stewart has shed more light on having an affair during her past marriage. The chef said that carrying out the act and getting away with it was "very easy" as her then-husband, Andrew, had no idea it was happening.

The home and garden guru made the revelation in a chat with businessman Lee Brian Schrager while celebrating her 100th book Wednesday night. Schrager had asked her how she successfully kept it a secret all those years, joking that it could be the subject of her next book.

"You have to be circumspect," she told him in a video shared by the Daily Mail. Martha and Andrew tied the knot in 1961 and welcomed their only child, daughter Alexis, in 1965. The pair went their separate ways in 1987 before settling their divorce in 1990.

The lifestyle mogul made the stunning revelation about her personal life in the trailer for her new Netflix documentary, "Martha," admitting to a decades-long secret affair during her marriage.

"Young women, listen to my advice, if you're married and your husband starts to cheat on you, he's a piece of sh-t," Martha said in the trailer. "Get out of that marriage."

When a producer asked, "Didn't you have an affair early on?" the chef answered, "Yeah, but I don't think Andy ever knew about that."

The new documentary follows her marriage, rise to fame in the lifestyle industry, and legal troubles.

"What does it mean to be the first female self-made billionaire in history?" she asks rhetorically at the trailer's beginning before laughing.

In the late '90s, Martha's mom, Martha Kostyra, shared in an interview with People Magazine that her daughter's divorce from Andrew left her "badly wounded," adding at the time that she "doesn't think she'll ever get over it."

However, more recently, in 2020, the celebrity chef told the news outlet that she was determined to move on with her life.

"Getting divorced was a terrible thing for me because we were the first to divorce in my family," Martha said at the time. "And that we haven't spoken since the divorce is even more painful. But I'm very strong, and I'm very motivated to get on with life."

She added, "I have survived the rigors of time, of marriage, of childbearing, of building a business from scratch. I have survived very nicely, and I think I make the most of it."
