One Direction alum Liam Payne has died at 31. According to reports, the singer fell from a hotel balcony in Argentina. According to a witness, Payne fell from a third-floor balcony at the CasaSur Palermo Hotel.

It is currently unknown whether the singer's death was accidental, TMZ reports.

According to the publication, photos of Payne's body were captured "on a wooden deck at the hotel with tables and chairs nearby."

His tattoos are visibly seen in the photos.

According to witnesses, Payne had been seen "acting erratic" in the hotel lobby earlier in the afternoon. The singer reportedly "smashed his laptop" and "had to be carried back to his room."

Emergency services are "believed to be outside the hotel" as of this writing, per the Daily Mail. There is reportedly a "red tent" located at the scene, the publication also reports.

There will be more details available as investigations are ongoing.

Local newspapers reported police were called to the Palermero neighborhood following reports of "an aggressive man who could be under the effects of drugs and alcohol," according to Reuters.

Payne and the other members of One Direction rose to fame on The X Factor in the early 2010s. The group nabbed third place in the competition.

The popular boyband was known for many popular songs and is responsible for spawning Harry Styles. The group would go on to become one of the biggest boybands of all time, before splitting for good in 2016. Several members of the band have gone on to have solo careers, including Payne, who released a collaboration with Quavo a year later, the same year Styles released his debut solo record.

Payne's latest solo effort came earlier this year; according to Variety, he released "Teardrops," and the single also featured an acoustic version.

Payne and his ex-bandmates were said to have supported Niall Horan at a recent concert, according to the Daily Mail. The concert took place earlier this month.

The 'Teardrops' Singer's Family Were Worried About His Health

Last year, the singer's family were reportedly worried about his health. Payne's mother, Karen, expressed her concern for her son after he was rushed to the hospital while on an anniversary trip with his girlfriend, Katie Cassidy, as The Blast previously reported.

Payne experienced "severe" kidney pain which later led to being hospitalized. The singer later canceled his tour following the incident.

Mrs. Payne revealed to The Daily Mail how his family grieved the situation. She said, "We are all worried sick about it, but we just have to get on," Karen shared. "It's horrible—him being all the way over there," adding, "He's in Milan, and it sounds like he'll be there for a week. I feel helpless."

Liam Payne Has Been Open About Past Mental Health Struggles

Payne has been quite open with the public about his past mental health struggles, and rehab stays.

He revealed he had been diagnosed with "A couple of conditions" last year after spending time in a US-based clinic. The singer took to his Instagram stories to tell more about his experience with his followers and fans. Payne revealed in the video that he had "hit rock bottom" and shared he had been nervous to publicly share his story, as The Blast previously reported.

"know in my last video I mentioned I'd been diagnosed with a couple of conditions, and not to go into too much detail, but one of them I have is, there's a lot of manic things in my life which you guys saw," Payne explained in the Instagram story from July of 2023.

"But the other side of it is, and that kind of feels like when I would lose my sobriety in these moments that were super low, and I felt like that today," Payne went on.  "And it's isolating the two things and seeing them separately and like I know what they are now..."

Payne wrote "hope this helps" in the video, later reiterating the sentiment when he continued speaking on seeking help for negative feelings and sadness.
