Jimmy Carter's Son Says 'He’s Never Voted For A Republican In His Life' After Fulfilling Last Goal

Jimmy Carter's final wish has officially been fulfilled, and it was a no-brainer, according to his family.
The former US president, who broke records by becoming a centenarian on October 1, has cast his vote for Kamala Harris like he wanted. His loved ones recently confirmed his loyalties have always been with the Democratic Party.
Jimmy Carter served as the 39th president of the United States from 1977 to 1981 as a member of the Democratic Party. At 100, he is the oldest living former president and longest-living president in US history.
Jimmy Carter Votes For Kamala Harris As Promised
The former US leader can be at peace knowing he lived long enough to fulfill his last goal in what many suspect will be his final election. Jimmy's son Chip Carter shared more about the moment in a new interview.
"I think he feels good. It was a good morning for him and good for us that he got it done," Chip said about his father filling out a ballot for Harris on Wednesday, October 16.
Chip's wife, Becky, delivered the absentee ballot on the former POTUS' behalf in a drop box at the Sumter County Courthouse. When asked if Jimmy had voted for Harris as promised, the doting son declared, "Absolutely."
He stressed that his father would never have picked Donald Trump or any other candidate, telling The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, "He's never voted for a Republican in his life."
Carter's Grandson Reveals Why He's Voting For Harris
Two months before casting his vote for Harris, Jimmy's grandson Jason Carter addressed their support for the presidential candidate at the Democratic National Convention. He claimed the VP's ideals were in line with his grandfather's beliefs, saying:
"Kamala Harris carries my grandfather's legacy. She knows what is right, and she fights for it. She understands that leadership is about service, not about selfishness."
"That you can show strength and demonstrate decency. And that you can get a whole lot more done with a smile than with a scowl," Jason claimed, per PEOPLE.
The Former POTUS Was More Excited To Vote For Harris Than For His 100th Birthday
Jimmy broke multiple records with his 100th birthday; however, The Blast shared that these milestones did not faze him. Instead, his grandson shared he was focused on fulfilling his final goal.
The beloved humanitarian allegedly told Jason: "I'm only trying to make it to vote for Kamala Harris." Despite not being in the best shape, given his age and declining health, his grandson noted Jimmy continues to make the best of each day.
"I mean, he's been in hospice for over 19 months now, and he has really physically diminished and can't do much on his own. But he is emotionally engaged and still having experiences and laughing, loving," Jason explained.
Carter Broke Expectations With His Hospice Care Record
When Jimmy entered hospice care in February 2023, many believed the former politician would meet his maker soon. However, he blew these expectations out of the park by surviving over a year and reaching his 100th birthday.
In September 2023, Jason reflected on his grandfather's decision to enter hospice care, saying: "This is an important part of his faith journey, and it's one that you don't get to experience at any other time in your life except for the very end."
"And so in that way, I think this has been a really meaningful time for him, and it's been a really reflective time for him," Jason added. Looking back must have been an excellent time for Jimmy, whose achievements earned him the love of citizens and celebrities.
Jimmy Carter Was Honored Ahead Of His Centennial Birthday
As stated, Jimmy remains one of the most beloved rulers in US history because of his achievements in and out of the White House. These milestones sparked the "Jimmy Carter 100: A Celebration in Song" event in honor of his centennial birthday.
The musical event was a star-studded affair with renowned performers, including Chuck Leavell, D-Nice, Drive-By Truckers, Eric Church, GROUPLOVE, Maren Morris, The War And Treaty, and The Atlanta Symphony Orchestra Chamber Chorus.
Emmy award-winner Rickey Minor directed the event, which featured more stars as guests. These entertainment giants came together to honor his "legacy of service to humanity" on September 17, ahead of Jimmy's 100th milestone.
