Mike Tyson's highly-anticipated match against Jake Paul is only a few weeks away, but not everyone is betting on the younger boxer winning.
Quinton Jackson, best known by his ring name Rampage Jackson, recently shared his thoughts on the upcoming fight between the 58-year-old boxing legend and the 27-year-old athlete.
Rampage Jackson revealed he is betting on Mike Tyson coming out on top in the November 15 match despite his health scare in May. The former UFC star also addressed the boxer's comments about fighting under the influence.
Rampage Jackson Believes Mike Tyson Will Shut Jake Paul Up
Jackson shared his thoughts about the upcoming match between Tyson and Paul when paparazzi spotted him at LAX. He stressed that he would never bet against the boxing legend, noting, "He's my favorite boxer."
Despite Tyson's age and ulcer flare-up in May, Jackson believed the icon had enough strength and experience to "shut that kid up." In his words: "Anything can happen in the boxing ring. But I ain't gonna go against Mike Tyson."
The former UFC fighter also addressed Tyson's appearance on "Jimmy Kimmel Live," where he claimed there was a possibility he would fight Paul high. He did not believe Iron Mike was being serious about fighting under the influence, telling TMZ:
"I don't know about that. Mike Tyson is probably just talking sh-t, man."
Whether Tyson was joking or not, Jackson stressed that he did not support fighters smoking weed before competing. He believed being under the influence would only hurt their chances of winning instead of helping.
Tyson Declared He Was Willing To Fight Despite His Health Scare
Following his ulcer flare-up in May, The Blast reported that Tyson broke his silence about his health scare on X. He updated fans about his well-being, assuring them that his condition would not affect the upcoming fight in November.
"Now feeling 100% even though I don't need to be to beat Jake Paul," Tyson confidently declared. His words sparked supportive messages from fans, many relieved he was well and willing to continue the fight.
"We all know that Mike. You will beat the ghost out of that punk!" an excited fan chimed, with another echoing, "So happy to see this. Sending peace and positive vibes!" The sweet responses came days after Tyson's health scare on a plane made waves.
Inside Iron Mike's Medical Emergency On A Cross-country Flight
Tyson experienced a health scare while on a cross-country flight, with an eyewitness revealing, "Mike had some kind of medical emergency on the plane, and paramedics boarded."
"Before the paramedics arrived, the flight issued an announcement asking for a doctor — the message even came on everyone's screens," the source continued. They shared that Tyson was eventually escorted from the plane, saying:
"He was in first class, but we were in an exit row, and the stewardess was very chatty. They asked us to stay on the plane and landed so paramedics could enter."
"She said something like, 'He's a really important passenger, so we want to make sure he's OK.' I knew it was him, but I just mouthed the words' Mike Tyson,' and she nodded her head yes," the eyewitness claimed.
The Boxer's Rep Claimed His Condition Did Not Cause A Delay
Tyson's rep bashed earlier reports that claimed his medical emergency had caused a delay before takeoff. The insider stressed that such claims were "false reporting" before addressing what had happened to the boxer.
According to the rep, the athlete had gotten "nauseous and dizzy due to an ulcer flare-up 30 minutes before landing." Tyson reportedly suffered these symptoms because of an "air conditioning issue on the aircraft."
The clarification about what happened to Tyson came at the heels of media outrage against Paul. The drama began when fans believed the younger boxer had dismissed Iron Mike's health scare to promote their upcoming fight instead of canceling it.
Jake Paul Faced Backlash For Pushing To Fight Mike Tyson
The criticism against Paul was rampant on X after he shared the problematic tweet: "You love to make sh-t up before knowing the facts for clicks/likes. Nothing changed #PaulTyson."
Fans believed his words showed a blatant disregard for Tyson's health, with one X user writing: "Be ashamed of yourself. You're fighting a 60-year-old man and claiming it's the hardest ever."
A fellow critic echoed similar sentiments, sharing a throwback picture of Tyson in a wheelchair alongside the words: "Correct. Mike is still a senior citizen with a lot of health issues."
Will Mike Tyson prove that age and health aren't enough to stop a champion, even if his opponent is three decades younger?
