Dr. Dre is embroiled in a nasty legal fight with his former psychiatrist, Dr. Charles Sophy, who he accused of poisoning his relationship with his son.
The drama between the record producer and his former counselor began during his heated separation from his ex-wife, Nicole Young. But Dre filed his complaints against the psychiatrist in February 2023.
The legal letter was unveiled a day after Dr. Charles Sophy filed a $10 million harassment lawsuit against Dr. Dre. However, the music mogul painted himself as the victim, accusing his former psychiatrist of malpractice and more.
Dr. Dre Claims Former Psychiatrist Abused His Power During His Divorce Case
According to the legal letter filed by Dre's attorney, Howard King, Dr. Sophy was accused of breaching his duty of trust and committing malpractice. The alleged crimes occurred while he served as the entertainer and Nicole's mediator during their divorce.
Dre claimed Sophy took his ex-wife's side and abused his power by trying to get her an advantage in their divorce case. The former psychiatrist allegedly "slandered" him "in a malicious effort to convince his son to turn against him."
Dre argued that Sophy's alleged actions poisoned his relationship with his son. However, TMZ reported that the doctor believed he was the victim and accused the Hip-Hop icon of bombarding him with abusive and menacing messages.

As reported by the outlet, Sophy filed a $10 million harassment lawsuit against Dre for threatening his safety over his past services. The psychiatrist noted he provided the media personality and his ex-wife therapy and marriage counseling during their union.
He stayed as a mediator during their separation; however, his working relationship with Dre soured over malpractice allegations. Sophy claimed the record producer started harassing him with insults and threats 14 months after his divorce finalization.
Sophy stressed that he was falsely accused of encouraging a third party to bad-mouth Dre in the media during the divorce proceedings. Despite maintaining his innocence, he alleged the entertainer sent his associates to track him down.
These alleged reps disguised themselves as FBI agents in an attempt to find his whereabouts in his gated community. Sophy claimed the incident, plus Dre's text messages were so bad he had to beef up his security at home.

Sophy believed Dre hired the fake FBI agents in order to gain access to his home and threaten his physical safety. He backed up his claim with the rapper's menacing text messages, where he allegedly threatened to "make you pay for that."
Dre also called him degrading names like "b-tch" and "a piece of sh-t." The harassing text messages, per Sophy, began in February 2023 and left him with emotional distress and fear for his well-being.
He claimed that after the fake FBI agents, he did not leave his home without wearing a bulletproof vest and cap. Sophy sued Dre for $10 million and asked for an order to keep the musician 100 yards away from him.
The Record Producer's Response To The Lawsuit
Following the harassment lawsuit, Dre responded to the allegations through his attorney. The entertainer, born Andre Romell Young, claimed Sophy's legal move was a last-ditch effort to stop him from pursuing his complaint.
"Dr. Sophy filed his suit only after he failed to pressure Mr. Young into dropping efforts to get Dr. Sophy punished for dereliction of duties and incredible incompetence," Dre's attorney explained in a statement, adding:
"These claims are set forth in detail in a confidential complaint Mr. Young filed in 2023 with the Osteopathic Medical Board of California."
"That complaint seeks revocation of Dr. Sophy's license to provide mental health counseling to needy patients," Dre's legal rep continued. He stressed that Sophy was fired after allegedly turning the rapper's son against him "to force a financial settlement that he recommended."
Dr. Dre Shares Ten Children With Different Women
The son the psychiatrist allegedly turned against Dre was never mentioned by name; however, the music mogul welcomed five sons and five daughters. He welcomed his first child — a boy named Curtis — with his former girlfriend, Cassandra Joy Green.
However, Dre did not meet his son until 20 years later. He welcomed daughters LaTanya, LaToya, and Ashley with another ex, Lisa Johnson, and daughter Tyra with former flame LaVetta Washington.
Dre welcomed son Andre Jr. with Jenita Porter in 1988; however, he tragically died from an overdose at 20. He fathered his third son, Marcel, with Michelle, then his fourth son, Tyler, with his ex-wife Nicole.
The former spouses also welcomed a son, Truice, and a daughter, Truly, per PEOPLE. Could the son mentioned in the case be between the two boys Dr. Dre welcomed with Nicole?
