Kanye "Ye" West's legal troubles are far from over, with a former employee suing him for unpaid services and emotional distress.
The hip-hop icon is no stranger to controversies, and the new lawsuit against him seems right up his alley. According to a man claiming to be his former director of intelligence, the rapper made him investigate his wife and former in-laws.
The ex-employee filed his claims under the pseudonym John Doe, alleging that Kanye "Ye" West tailed his spouse, Bianca Censori. He also had suspicions about the Kardashians and looked into their movements for illegal activities.
Kanye 'Ye' West Reportedly Had Eyes On Those Around Him
The man suing Ye claimed the rapper never paid him for the work done over several pay periods. He recalled joining the entertainer's team as the campaign manager for his botched presidential run in December 2022.
He eventually became his "Director of Intelligence," a role that required him to handle Ye's NDAs and other investigations. Part of his duties involved keeping an eye on the rapper's wife and his former in-laws.
The man claimed he was tasked with hiring private investigators to "tail" Censori without her knowledge. These sleuths watched her during her solo trips, including visits to her family in Australia — a seemingly harmless gesture, unlike Ye's alleged move on the Kardashians.
The legal documents obtained by TMZ alleged that Ye kept an eye on the Kardashians because of their "supposed various criminal links." The music mogul, per his ex-employee, believed his former in-laws were involved in "sex trafficking."
Ye Allegedly Changed Months Earlier
The claims about Ye continued, with the ex-employee arguing that the rapper began exhibiting erratic behavior in May 2024. The change in his demeanor might be linked to his alleged nitrous oxide usage.
Around the same time he allegedly started using the gas, Ye implanted titanium grills on his teeth and began dismissing employees involved in the leadership of his Yeezy brand. The man noted his working relationship with him also came to a halt.
According to the former director of intelligence, he was fired after telling Ye about complaints from a Donda Academy staffer. The latter alleged that children had been abused at the school, and nothing was done to resolve the problem.
The entertainer allegedly responded by yelling and cursing at his former employee, even threatening him with "great bodily harm." The man claimed Ye's enforcers also sent him threats, triggering his PTSD from service in the military.
The Suit Came Weeks After Ye Settled An Assault Case
The former employee sued Ye for unspecified damages, a demand that came weeks after the Yeezy founder settled an assault and battery lawsuit. In September, The Blast covered the settlement between him and a man named Justin Poplawski.
Court documents confirmed the pair had settled on September 11, two years after the alleged assault occurred outside a SoHo Warehouse in Downtown L.A. in 2022. At the time of Poplawski's filing, his attorney claimed Ye had attacked him with clear intent to cause harm.
The rapper allegedly struck Poplawski multiple times, leaving him "severely" injured and defenseless during the attack. The victim claimed his wounds were not only physical but deeply emotional and asked for an unspecified amount in damages.
The Yeezy Founder Claimed His Actions Were Self-Defense
Following the assault and battery lawsuit, the "Carnival" rapper's team responded to the allegations with claims of self-defense, stating, "Ye was justified in doing any and/or all of the acts alleged in the complaint."
The legal reps argued that Ye acted "reasonably and in good faith at all times material herein, based on all relevant facts and circumstances known to Ye at the time Ye so acted."This wasn't the first physical assault case the entertainer has faced.
In April, Ye was allegedly involved in a confrontation at the Chateau Marmont and punched one of the Houston brothers after his wife accused the man of grabbing her. The incident escalated into a legal matter when a report was filed with the L.A. city police.
What Happened Between Kanye 'Ye' West And The Houston Brothers?
The Chateau Marmont drama seemed to be a misunderstanding on Ye and his wife's part. Sources claimed the surveillance footage of the incident did not support Censori's allegation that one of the Houston brothers had grabbed her.
Eyewitnesses echoed similar sentiments, noting the encounter was nothing more than an accidental bump into Ye's wife. It was unclear if the parties had resolved their differences as law enforcement sources claimed they had not heard from them.
Neither Ye nor the Houston brothers had contacted authorities since the initial police report was filed, implying that discussions might have occurred privately. As a result, the case would quietly be moved to the city's Attorney's office for further consideration.
