Jennifer Lopez Finally Addresses 'Hard' Divorce From Ben Affleck: 'It Feels Lonely'

After months of deliberately not talking about her divorce from Ben Affleck, singer Jennifer Lopez is finally sharing how she feels about their split.

For several months, the duo was rumored to have hit a rough patch in their marriage, culminating in her filing for divorce from the "Accountant" actor in August.

She has now shared in a new interview that ending her marriage to Affleck was "f–ing hard' and that the feeling that came with the separation was "lonely," "unfamiliar," and "scary."

Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck are still finalizing their divorce and have been meeting with divorce lawyer Laura Wasser to assist with the process.

In a chat with Interview Magazine,  Lopez finally broke her silence on her split from Affleck.

The actress shared that the breakup was "f–ing hard,' confirming that her decision to file for divorce in August wasn't one she took with levity.

Lopez also revealed that her split from the "Argo" star has been quite the emotional rollercoaster. While she has yet to process it fully, she has learned some deep lessons about herself.

"It feels lonely, unfamiliar, scary. It feels sad. It feels desperate," the singer told the publication.

She added, "But when you sit in those feelings and go, 'These things are not going to kill me, it's like actually, I am capable of joy and happiness all by myself. Being in a relationship doesn't define me. I can't be looking for happiness in other people. I have to have happiness within myself."

Elsewhere in the interview, Lopez was asked if she regretted making the move to end her marriage.

In response to the question, the actress noted that she has no regrets, "not [for] one second," and admitted that although she almost didn't survive the aftermath of her decision, she knew it was what she needed.

Lopez remarked, "I think to myself, 'F-ck, that is exactly what I needed. Thank you, god. I'm sorry it took me so long. I'm sorry that you had to do this to me so many times. I should have learned it two or three times ago. I get it. You had to hit me really hard over the head with a f-cking sledgehammer. You dropped the house on me. Don't have to do it again.'"

Despite admitting that splitting from Affleck was the right decision, Lopez went on to say that she still hadn't had everything "figured out" about herself.

However, she is looking forward to her new chapter with excitement and does not intend to jump back into the dating pool anytime soon.

The "Maid In Manhattan" actress noted, "Now I'm excited, when you say you're just going to be on your own. Yes, I'm not looking for anybody, because everything that I've done over the past 25, 30 years, being in these different challenging situations, what can I f-cking do when it's just me flying on my own."

But if she does find love again, the actress now understands that the relationship must be one where her partner helps her to be her authentic self.

She noted, "Somebody who truly loves you will help you heal those parts of yourself. That's what I've learned about love, that it is a secure thing. You make me feel safe, and when I fall short of the glory, you understand me and you help me to grow to be better, because you have your boundaries and I have my boundaries."

Rather than opting for a protracted court battle, Lopez and Affleck have been working on finalizing their divorce through mediation.

The duo has been spotted meeting with "disso queen" Laura Wasser, leading many to believe that the attorney will help them in the process.

This includes determining who gets what with regard to the properties they accumulated during the course of their marriage.

Meanwhile, the former couple has remained amicable despite their separation, having been seen hanging out with their children from their previous marriages on numerous occasions.

Lopez is seemingly embracing a fresh start in more ways than one following her decision to divorce Affleck.

According to TMZ, sources claim the singer has set her sights on a lavish new abode and is looking to buy the famed Azria Estate in the luxe Los Angeles neighborhood of Holmby Hills.

A source said she is "close to striking a deal" on purchasing the 30,000 sq. foot estate, which has a listing price of $55 million, but that she's offering between $30 million and $39 million for the property.

Lopez's interest in the property seems very high, as the insider said she had toured the grounds several times over the past few weeks.
