The film’s screenplay, penned by Rebecca Sonnenshine, is based on Freida McFadden’s bestselling novel, and it's already shaping up to be a must-watch.

Sweeney will play Millie, a woman down on her luck who takes a job as a housemaid for a wealthy couple, played by Seyfried and another yet-to-be-named star. But of course, things take a dark turn, and Millie quickly discovers that her new employers’ secrets are far more dangerous than her own.

Hidden Pictures’ Todd Lieberman is producing the flick, and Sweeney and Seyfried are also executive producers.

“I’m thrilled to have 'The Housemaid' join our upcoming slate,” Adam Fogelson, chair of Lionsgate Motion Picture Group, told Deadline. “A great filmmaker and a great cast with a great script from a great book is a terrific place to start. My prior work experiences with Paul and Amanda have been nothing short of spectacular, and Sydney is as talented and compelling as can be.”

The novel has stayed on the New York Times bestseller list for over 75 weeks and continues to climb. On Amazon, it has been a fixture on the bestsellers list for an impressive 98 weeks.

In an Instagram video, Sweeney is seen reading McFadden's "The Housemaid" as she writes, "Tell me about yourself, Millie #TheHousemaidMovie—coming soon!!"

McFadden commented on the post, expressing her excitement for the collab. "Dying of excitement!!!!!" she wrote.

Others flooded the comments section with nothing but praise. "I'm seated," one follower wrote. "The theater employees are scared and asking me to leave because it’s 'not even filmed yet' but I'm simply too seated."
