Tucker Wetmore Says His 'Faith' Has Saved Him

Country singer Wetmore isn’t shy about giving credit where it’s due — especially when it comes to his faith. Wetmore, who shot to stardom with his debut EP Waves on a Sunset, says his belief system has been the key to surviving the ups and downs of both life and the music business.

"I wouldn't be here if it wasn't for faith," Wetmore told Fox News Digital. "Spiritually and musically and my faith that I have within my work and in the music and stuff."

"I pray every single day for just like random stuff," he added. "It's hard in the line of work that I do to not slip up and not kind of fall off a little bit and I catch myself and I do that, and then I lean on my people and like, 'Hey, I'm struggling really bad right now,' and stuff like that.' But then He always keeps me centered."

"He always brings me right back and be like, ‘No, this is the path that I have for you.' And I've never doubted that," the country music star told the outlet. "But it is tough. It is tough at times. And I would be lying if I said it wasn't. But then I sit back, and I'm like, ‘No, this is it. This is His path for me.' And I just got to sit back and trust and listen."

Tucker Wetmore Originally Planned To Become A Professional Football Player

Wetmore’s life took a drastic turn during his college years when his dreams of playing in the NFL came crashing down.

While playing football at Montana Tech in Butte, Montana, Wetmore suffered a severe leg injury, breaking his leg and shattering his hopes of a professional sports career. This moment forced him to rethink his path and ultimately led him to pursue music full-time.

"Football was my only goal for as long as I can remember," Wetmore recalled. "My goal was just to try to make it in the draft and do what I could in college and hopefully make it to the league someday."

"I had terrible grades," he said with a laugh. "So, that was a struggle. But my main focus was football, and getting injured for the third time really made me sit back and be like, ‘I need to leave.’ And so I dropped out of college, and then I was super lost."

Now, as a rising star in country music, Wetmore channels that life-altering experience into his music, finding purpose in his faith and the songs that have resonated with fans.

Tucker Wetmore Says He Felt 'Lost'

After suffering the sports career-ending injury, Wetmore admitted he felt "lost" and turned to his mom for advice.

"I sat my mom down, and I was like, 'Mom, I'm so lost right now. I don't know what I'm doing with my life,'" he recalled. "I was like, 'I had so much purpose, and now I'm doing nothing.' She was like, ‘Go sit in front of your piano, go play guitar.’ And she was like, ‘That was your therapy. You know, when you were 11, you were going through a bunch of stuff family-wise.'"

He eventually made the bold decision to move to Nashville, the heart of the country music scene, and by 2021, he was independently releasing singles like "Kiss My A$$," "Another Shot," and "She's Trouble."

Tucker Wetmore's First Big Break

His talent caught the attention of Rakiyah Marshall, founder of Back Blocks Music.

This connection led to Wetmore signing with Back Blocks and later partnering with UMG Nashville, marking a major step in his rising career.

"I make different music than I enjoy listening to, if that makes sense," he told Fox. "I make what I love to make, and I make what makes the most sense for me in that sense."
