While the 49-year-old had an absolute blast on his first night on the job, the show's fandom was quite skeptical of his failure to reference his predecessor during the premiere.
The Blast noted that some fans were disappointed that he left out Sajak's sterling four-decade run on the list of accolades for his big night. "Ryan Seacrest is off to a rocky start on 'Wheel of Fortune,'" one user said. "Not a single mention of the ICON Pat Sajak?!"
"Ryan Seacrest was perhaps the worst possible choice to replace Pat Sajak, lmao," another user noted. "It's 3 minutes into his very first episode and I hate it."
That was not all, Sajak was also notably absent at the venue as the announcer Jim Thorton introduced Seacrest and Vanna White as the official host of the 42nd season of "Wheel of Fortune."

"I am your host, Ryan Seacrest. I still can't believe my luck of being here with you tonight to continue this legacy of this incredible show with all of you," the TV personality declared after stepping out on stage.
He thanked the audience for their "warm welcome" and added that hosting the show was his long-time dream. Seacrest recalled watching the show as a kid and being a fan.
He also acknowledged the sentiments attached to the show by fans who have watched for 40 years. The E! Star added, "And I'm just so grateful to be invited in. I also know I've got some very big shoes to fill. So, let's play 'Wheel of Fortune.'"

Vanna White Was Worried About Co-Hosting With Seacrest For The First Time
The Blast reported that White, who worked alongside Sajak on the show till his retirement, confessed about worrying about her chemistry with Seacrest.
Despite knowing Seacrest for over two decades, she admitted that working together was a different terrain they had never explored. She also noted that she feared not being compatible with Seacrest due to her lengthy years of co-hosting alongside Sajak.
However, all her worries were laid to rest on the debut night as she soon discovered they were a great fit and even showered praises on Seacrest for doing a great job on stage.
