Late Aaron Carter's Doctor Slams Melanie Martin & Son's Wrongful Death Lawsuit

As far as the doctor who treated Aaron Carter is concerned, he played by the book and did not contribute to the late pop singer's death.
The medical practitioner, Dr. John Faber, recently filed to have the wrongful death lawsuit against him dismissed. He argued that he treated Carter adequately and tried to stop him from his addictions to no avail.
Last year, the doctor was named in the lawsuit as a contributing factor to Aaron Carter's 2022 demise. The suit was filed by his ex-fiancée Melanie Martin, and their son, Princeton Lyric Carter.
Doctor Who Treated Aaron Carter Hopes To Dismiss Lawsuit
According to new legal documents, Dr. Faber moved to have the allegations against him tossed out of court. He claimed he was not negligent in Carter's treatment, nor did his actions contribute to his death.
The doctor recalled meeting the former teen idol in June 2020, noting Carter told him he suffered from anxiety and once used two milligrams of Xanax three times a day to cope. The documents read:
"The patient reported that he felt frequently depressed, easily fatigued, irritable, and had experienced 10 panic attacks in the last month."
Carter, per In Touch, allegedly told Dr. Faber that his problems started at a young age. He claimed he had been using alcohol, nicotine, marijuana, inhalants, cocaine, amphetamines, opiates, barbiturates, hallucinogens, prescription tranquilizers, and sleeping pills since he was 18.
Carter Allegedly Denied Having A Substance Abuse History
Dr. Faber claimed he was unaware of Carter's issues with drugs because he "denied any history of or ongoing substance abuse." However, the medical practitioner suspected he was lying.
A quick search of the medical database revealed Carter had received a prescription for Xanax in May 2020, a month before he visited Dr. Faber. He eventually accepted the singer as a patient to address his psychiatric conditions and manage his medical prescriptions.
However, their time together proved challenging for the doctor over Carter's inability to follow instructions. "Throughout this time period, the patient's medical records indicate instances where the patient would admit to Dr. Faber that he failed to adhere to Dr. Faber's medication plan," the motion claimed.
Did Melanie Martin Give Her Ex-Fiancé Drugs?
According to the documents, Carter not only failed to follow Dr. Faber's instructions but also allegedly "indicated that he had obtained controlled substances from other non-medical sources."
The allegations noted these sources included "an instance where he obtained controlled substances from his girlfriend." Although Dr. Faber did not mention the lover involved, Carter and his ex-fiancée, Melanie Martin, dated on and off again from 2020 to 2022.
While it was unclear if Martin could be the woman the medical practitioner referenced, Dr. Faber, on the other hand, claimed he tried to stop Carter. He alleged that he would talk to the deceased and lower the amount he prescribed him.
Additionally, he frequently checked the medical database to ensure Carter did not have any other prescriptions. Dr. Faber also threatened to terminate his treatment if he failed to adhere to the medication plan.
The Doctor Claims There Were No Warning Signs
Carter, per the documents, went off the rails in May 2022 when the Department of Child and Family Services contacted Dr. Faber about a positive drug test. The deceased tested positive for "opioids like hydrocodone and oxycodone."
However, Dr. Faber assured authorities that he did not prescribe the drugs for Carter. The latter allegedly confessed to the medical practitioner that he got the substances from his dentist, a claim he confirmed on the database.
Despite this incident, he kept treating Carter from June 19, 2022, to October 21, 2022, closely monitoring his medications and contacting him. The last time he prescribed drugs for the late singer was when he refilled his prescription.
Dr. Faber stressed that Carter seemed to be on the right track, noting, "The patient did not exhibit any medication red flags or substance abuse behavior." However, he died on November 5, 2022, days after attending a video conference with the doctor on October 21.
Inside The Aaron Carter Wrongful Death Lawsuit
Last October, The Blast reported that Carter's ex-fiancée had filed a wrongful death lawsuit on behalf of their son. Martin accused doctors of prescribing inappropriate prescriptions and dispensing medications that negatively impacted the deceased's mental state and judgment.
The lawsuit claimed the defendants, including the Walgreens pharmacy, had given Carter drugs like Hydrocodone, Oxycodone, and Alprazolam without medical justification while being aware of his "mental health and psychiatric conditions."
Aaron Carter was found dead in a bathtub at his Lancaster, California residence by his housekeeper. His autopsy revealed he had drowned after inhaling compressed difluoroethane (commonly known as huffing) and ingesting alprazolam (Xanax).
