Former No. 1 MLB Draft pick Matt Bush has been arrested for DUI after allegedly fleeing the scene of a multi-car accident in Arlington, Texas.

The 38-year-old, who was once a promising talent in Major League Baseball, found himself in hot water after reportedly attempting to evade law enforcement following erratic driving in his Lincoln Aviator.

Matt Bush, who was drafted first overall by the San Diego Padres in 2004, was taken into custody in Arlington, Texas, on Friday, October 3.

Matt Bush, the No. 1 pick from the 2004 MLB Draft, was arrested after reportedly fleeing the scene of a car crash while under the influence. According to law enforcement, the 38-year-old tried to escape on foot after a multi-car collision, TMZ reports.

Cops initially attempted to stop Bush after noticing him driving erratically in his Lincoln Aviator. Authorities say the former MLB pitcher sped off before they could pull him over.

Moments later, the 38-year-old reportedly ran a red light, leading to a chaotic pile-up at a busy intersection.

Eyewitnesses Report That Matt Bush Fled The Scene On Foot

Eyewitnesses say Bush, who last played for the Milwaukee Brewers in 2023, tried to flee the scene on foot, but bystanders quickly intervened and held him down until police arrived. Bush was subsequently taken to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, where he exhibited signs of intoxication.

After refusing to take a sobriety test, Bush was arrested and now faces multiple charges, including one count of DWI, one count of accident involving injury, and one count of evading law enforcement.

He has yet to make a statement.

Former MLB Player Matt Bush Has A Rocky Past

Bush's professional career has been marred by numerous off-the-field issues, including a troubling incident in March 2012 when he was arrested for running over a motorcyclist's head with his SUV while playing in the minor leagues.

The 38-year-old faced multiple charges stemming from that incident, including two counts of DUI with property damage, one count of DUI with serious bodily injury, one count of leaving the scene of an accident with injury, one count of driving with a suspended license, and two counts of leaving the scene of an accident with damage to property.

Matt Bush's Blood Alcohol Content Was Registered At 0.18

Bush ended up serving time in prison following the 2012 drunken crash in Florida that left a 72-year-old motorcyclist seriously injured. At the time of that incident, his blood alcohol content registered at a staggering 0.18.

Ultimately, the 38-year-old was sentenced to 51 months in prison as a result of these charges, but only ended up serving 39 months of the sentence before being released in 2015.

Matt Bush Declined Roadside Sobriety Test In Recent Incident

In this most recent arrest, Arlington police attempted to pull over Bush's 2023 Lincoln Aviator on Friday night due to erratic driving on Pioneer Parkway. However, the driver fled from law enforcement.

Just moments later, the same Lincoln Aviator was involved in a multi-car accident at the intersection of E. Pioneer Parkway and S. Collins Street. Investigators revealed that Bush ran a red light, colliding with a 2023 Chevy Silverado. The Aviator then crashed into a 2010 GMC Yukon and a 2008 Toyota Corolla, both of which were stopped at the light.

The 38-year-old declined to take a roadside sobriety test and remained tight-lipped with investigators regarding the crash. A blood sample was taken from Bush and will undergo testing. He has been booked into the Arlington City.

Jail on charges of one count of DWI, one count of accident involving injury, and one count of evading arrest.

Matt Bush last played for the Milwaukee Brewers in 2023.
