There is nothing quite like a mother's love for her children, and Diddy's mom fully believes in his innocence.
Janice Combs recently broke her silence on her son's scathing indictment, arguing that he should be treated as innocent until proven guilty. She blamed his ex, Cassie, for starting the domino effect that sparked the rapper's downfall.
Diddy, born Sean John Combs, was arrested and indicted on three criminal counts, including sex trafficking, on September 16. He has been denied bail twice amid rising criticism against him, yet his mother's love remains unwavering.
Diddy's Mom Implores The Public Not To Condemn Him Without Proof
The embattled rapper's mom broke her silence on his legal battle through her attorney, Natlie G. Figgers. Janice expressed anguish over the allegations against her son, claiming Diddy was being criticized over a "narrative created out of lies."
The heartbroken mom argued that her son was being condemned without evidence, saying, "To bear witness to what seems like a public lynching of my son before he has had the opportunity to prove his innocence is a pain too unbearable to put into words."
Janice doubled down on the hate against Diddy stemming from misconceptions about his personality — a problem she believed started following his infamous abuse case with his ex Cassie.
The matriarch defended her son despite the incriminating video that saw him physically assaulting the latter in a hotel lobby. According to TMZ, Janice said:
"Sometimes, the truth and a lie become so closely intertwined that it becomes terrifying to admit one part of the story, especially when that truth is outside the norm or is too complicated to be believed."
Diddy's Mom Says He Is Not A 'Monster'
Janice reiterated her claims about Diddy's innocence in Cassie's case, seemingly blaming his ex for sparking the domino effect that led to his arrest and federal indictment.
She believed Diddy's settlement with Cassie was the origin of his problems, and her words were not far from the truth. Following the singer's victory, more women came forward with sexual assault claims against the rapper and his infamous white parties.
When the feds became involved, Diddy was slammed for crimes like sex trafficking, racketeering, and more sexually related charges. However, Janice stressed that her son was "not the monster they have painted him to be" and deserved to prove his innocence before getting indicted.
Janice Combs Was Hospitalized Months Before Diddy's Indictment
Janice's love for her son was evident not just by words but by her actions. In July, The Blast reported she was rushed to the ER following the mounting sexual assault lawsuits against her son.
Sources close to the "Hello Good Morning" rapper shared that Janice was hospitalized in a South Florida facility following complaints of chest pains. They claimed she linked the discomfort to stress over Diddy's legal woes.
It appeared Janice was so heartbroken by her son's troubles that it took a massive toll on her health. Her strong feelings for Diddy weren't one-sided, as the music mogul reportedly rushed to her side from Miami per her request.
"He's her comfort in this," an insider shared. Janice and Diddy have displayed a close bond over the years, with the doting mom single-handedly raising her son. She has been his constant support even before the federal raids on his homes.
The Rapper Filed A Notice Of Appeal Following Two Bail Denials
Days before Janice's comments about her son's indictment, The Blast shared that Diddy had made his third attempt to secure bail. The rapper, per his PR team, had filed a notice of appeal at the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit.
This was a standard notice to the court before the actual appeal was filed. Diddy's move questioned the judge's order to keep him locked up pending trial, and he wanted the higher court to review this judgment.
In their argument to deny him bail, the government partly stated: "As reflected by the gravity of the charges in the indictment, the defendant is dangerous and poses an ongoing threat to the safety of the community."
Diddy Offered Massive Deals To Secure Bail
Diddy's attempts to secure bail began after his arrest and indictment on September 16, with the first offer involving $50 million. He placed his Miami home and his mother Janice's house on the line as collateral.
The offer continued with an agreement to wear a GPS monitor and restrict his flying. However, his offer was rejected, forcing Diddy's team to raise the stakes in a second proposal featuring limited female visitors and weekly drug tests.
Although the rapper claimed he would be transparent with the government about who he met in his Miami home, Diddy's plea for bail was dismissed. He remains at MDC Brooklyn, with his next court date on October 9.
