Delvey and her partner, Ezra Sosa, were among the first to be sent home this season. During the live show, co-host Julianne Hough asked Delvey what she’d take away from the experience, to which she bluntly replied, “Nothing.”

She later expanded on her thoughts about the show, hinting at her mixed feelings regarding her participation. She suggested that the reason for casting her may have been less about her dancing skills and more about the intrigue surrounding her public persona.

“I feel that the show so obviously used me to drive up the ratings, that they never had any plans to give me any chance to grow and only cared about exploiting me for attention,” Delvey told NBC News. “It was predatory of them to try [to] make me feel inadequate and stupid all while I did get progressively better yet they chose to disregard that.”

Ahead of the season’s premiere, showrunner Conrad Green addressed the decision to cast Anna Delvey, despite her criminal history. Green defended the choice, noting that Delvey’s unique story added a layer of intrigue to the competition.

As a convicted felon, Delvey participated in the show while wearing an ankle monitor due to her ongoing house arrest. She was arrested in 2017 for posing as a wealthy heiress and defrauding individuals, hotels, and banks. Her crimes led to convictions of grand larceny in the first, second, and third degrees.

Delvey appeared on Tori Spelling’s "misSPELLING" podcast on September 28, where Spelling asked her to elaborate on her infamous “nothing” comment. The 33-year-old con artist stood by her remark, explaining that it “was the truth,” further reinforcing her no-nonsense attitude toward her time on "Dancing With the Stars."

“You guys told me what I’m supposed to do. I tried to do it and then I still was rejected. And, I’m taking away nothing. This is what I’m taking away from it, because your advice was worthless,” she told Spelling on the podcast. “I felt like, well, they were building me up. It’s like, oh, well, ‘Only if you smile more, only if you do like x y z. It’s going to be so much better for you.’ And it felt like they put so much effort trying to get me on the show, like, make me feel comfortable just to… eliminate me this early.”

"Dancing with the Stars" is broadcast on ABC and Disney+ every Tuesday at 8 p.m. ET. This week, there will be a bonus episode on Monday, October 7.
