Former NBA star Magic Johnson has revealed his support for Kamala Harris as the political election heats up.

Known for his influential presence both on and off the court, Johnson took to social media alongside Harris to express his endorsement while reminding people to register to vote.

Magic Johnson's endorsement comes after the Kamala Harris campaign launched "Athletes for Harris."

Magic Johnson Teams Up With Kamala Harris To Remind People To Register

Earlier this week, the current Vice President took to social media alongside Johnson to remind their followers to register, as the election is quickly approaching.

"It's 32 days until the Election," Johnson begins in the video shared to Harris' page. "Now, you know, I love that number," he added, referring to his NBA jersey number.

Harris then joins in, telling viewers to head to IWillVote.com.

"Marking 32 days left till Election Day with #32," she captioned it. "Great seeing you, Magic Johnson!"

Despite it being Harris' social media page, the comments section was filled with Trump supporters.

"If you people really think she is qualified and capable of being president then you need your head examined," one user commented. "32 days to vote for trump!!" another wrote.

"YUP!!! 32 days!!!" a third said. "TRUMP VANCE."

There were some who showed support for Harris and thanked Johnson for speaking out. "Real men stand up for women. Thank you Magic," one user commented.

"WHEN TRUMP LOSES WE ALL WIN!" another said.

Kamala Harris Campaign Launches 'Athletes for Harris'

Last month, the Harris campaign announced the launch of "Athletes for Harris," an initiative aimed at mobilizing athletes and coaches during the crucial final weeks of the campaign, as stated in a release obtained by USA TODAY Sports. This effort seeks to harness the influence of prominent sports figures to rally support and energize voters ahead of the upcoming election.

"Athletes are among the most trusted voices for key voting blocs, especially young men, making them uniquely qualified campaigners for Vice President Harris and Governor (Tim) Walz’s campaign the statement read. "Sporting events and games are also key moments that draw in large and politically diverse audiences, audiences that are increasing their reach with Gen Z and younger men."

The initiative is spearheaded by a diverse group of 10 co-chairs, including Hall of Famer Johnson, tennis legend Billie Jean King, Golden State Warriors coach Steve Kerr, two-time World Cup champion Ali Krieger, WNBA champion and Olympic gold medalist Candace Parker, Milwaukee Bucks coach Doc Rivers, South Carolina coach Dawn Staley, Paralympic swimmer Ali Truwit, NBA All-Star Chris Paul, and Philadelphia Eagles defensive lineman Thomas Booker.

"I just got back from the Paralympics a few weeks ago and now more than ever feel the importance of unity and unifying voices," Truwit said in a statement, per USA TODAY Sports. "And Vice President Harris is a vote for kindness and inclusivity and unity."

This impressive roster of football legends adds further momentum to her campaign, showcasing a strong alliance between sports figures and political advocacy.
