On Saturday, October 5, Anne Hathaway used her Instagram platform to discuss politics and the upcoming 2024 presidential election.
Though she did not endorse either party, the Academy Award-winning actress has long been a vocal advocate for equal rights, especially with her brother being part of the LGBTQ community, meaning it is highly possible she will vote for Kamala Harris.
In fact, in 2018, the Human Rights Campaign (HRC)—the largest LGBT rights organization in the nation—honored Anne Hathaway with their National Equality Award.
Anne Hathaway Takes To Social Media For 2024 Presidential Election Reminder
In a video shared on Instagram on Saturday, October 5, Anne Hathaway showed off her outfit of the day while reminding her followers to register to vote as the election is 30 days away.
"30 days til election cozy edit," she wrote alongside the video. "Make sure you’re ready and head to @iamavoter."
As for Hathaway's part, she said she will be working on her absentee ballot.

While she has not revealed her voting choice, Anne Hathaway has been vocal about her views, particularly on LGBTQ rights.
In 2018, she expressed her fear of the hatred directed at the LGBTQ community by bigots, but a speech by former Vice President Joe Biden helped restore her faith.
“I think I’m probably walking around like most people right now," she said, per The New York Post. "I’m pretty shell-shocked by what I see every day, what I hear every day. And I really don’t like to admit this, but I get scared.”
“It is important to acknowledge with the exception of being a cisgender male, everything about how I was born has put me at the current center of a damaging and widely accepted myth,” she said. "That myth is that gayness orbits around straightness, transgender orbits around cisgender, and that all races orbit around whiteness.”
Anne Hathaway's Brother Is Gay
Hathaway shared that her time spent with the LGBTQ community—especially since her older brother is gay—taught her to reject this myth.
“I appreciate this community because together we are not going to just question this myth, we are going to destroy it,” she said in 2018 “Let’s tear this world apart and build a better one.”
Given her views on LGBTQ rights, one can expect Anne Hathaway to support Kamala Harris and Tim Walz.
As Vice President, Harris has consistently spoken out against anti-LGBTQ+ legislation in the U.S., which includes bans on gender-affirming care for youth and "don't say gay" laws that restrict conversations about sexuality and gender identity in schools.
Kamala Harris Has Also Been Outspoken About Reproductive Rights
Throughout her career, Harris has been a staunch advocate for abortion rights and is often seen as a more robust supporter of reproductive rights than Biden.
While serving in the Senate, she co-sponsored legislation designed to prevent states from enacting restrictions on abortion and voted against a bill that aimed to ban abortions after 20 weeks.
As Vice President, Harris vocally criticized the Supreme Court’s 2022 ruling to overturn Roe v. Wade, positioning herself as the administration's leading voice on reproductive health rights.
Anne Hathaway Announces 'The Princess Diaries 3'
One day before her political video, Anne Hathaway treated fans to a nostalgic TikTok moment, revisiting her iconic "Princess Diaries" role.
In a playful video, she recreated the film's famous "Shut up!" scene, seamlessly transitioning between her present self and her younger self from the 2001 original. But fans were left with their jaws dropped after Hathaway confirmed that a "Princess Diaries 3" project is in the works.
“Miracles happen,” Hathaway stated in her caption, before referencing the fictional kingdom from the film series with “Back to Genovia.” She wrapped up her message with the phrase, “The fairy tale continues,” accompanied by a flaming heart emoji.
“The Princess Diaries 3” is currently in the works at Disney, with director Adele Lim attached.
“As a diehard fan of the original 'Princess Diaries,' I’m beyond excited to be a part of bringing the third iteration of this beloved franchise to life,” Lim said in a statement, per The Hollywood Reporter. “We look forward to celebrating its core tenants of female power, joy and mentorship with audiences worldwide.
The upcoming film will act as a prequel to the 2001 film.
