The show did not go on without Jamie Foxx as his new son-in-law ensured he was a crucial part in his daughter's engagement despite his "medical complication."
The Hollywood veteran suffered a health scare last year that forced him out of the spotlight and into a rehabilitation facility. Because his condition was kept private, his participation in his daughter's big day wasn't revealed until now.
During a new interview, Jamie Foxx's daughter, Corinne Foxx, recalled how her new husband, Joe Hooten, had planned the perfect proposal and celebrations. She shared that his plans revolved around her then-ill father.

While reflecting on her emotional engagement to Hooten, Corinne revealed that he had initially planned to ask for her hand in marriage in the spring of 2023. Her partner set his sights on Ireland, but Jamie's condition changed things.
"When my dad [Jamie Foxx] got sick, our plans changed, and we ended up spending our summer in Chicago while he recovered. Little did I know that Joe had changed his plans so he could still propose on the same day—just in a different city," Corinne shared.
She revealed Hooten proposed in a Chicago park with cherry blossoms; however, the stunning flowers weren't the best part. Her beau ensured he made the Foxx family, including Jamie, a part of their big day.
"He flew in my mom from Los Angeles and had my aunts hiding in a bush FaceTiming my dad the entire time," Corinne told Vogue, adding:
"He even planned a very special post-engagement party in my dad's room [at a physical rehabilitation center] in Chicago. It was a small celebration, but it was so intimate and meaningful."

The engagement party wasn't the only way Jamie was involved in his daughter's union as the couple said their vows in his Thousand Oaks, California, home.
Their marriage ceremony occurred on September 21, 2024, surrounded by friends and loved ones. Reflecting on why they chose the property as their home, Hooten said:
"The day after we got engaged, we asked Jamie if we could do the wedding at his house. The home is very special to the whole family, and it felt like a no-brainer."
Corinne echoed similar sentiments, adding, "It was never a question. We always knew we'd get married in my dad's backyard. He has the most gorgeous property. It already looks like a wedding venue. We couldn't think of anywhere more special than a home wedding. It just felt right."

The home wedding was "incredibly special," per Corinne because it came a year and a half after her father's health scare. She revealed he walked her down the aisle to a string version of Ray Charles' "Georgia On My Mind."
"My dad won his Oscar for playing [Ray] in 2005. At 10 years old, I was his plus one and got to share that special moment with him," Corinne recalled, adding, "There wasn't a dry eye in the house when we came down the aisle."
Her husband confirmed her words, confessing, "I didn't expect to cry up there, but the moment I saw Corinne and Jamie, who was also emotional, walking down that aisle, all bets were off."
"I was in awe of her beauty and inspired by Jamie's example of fatherhood. During Jamie's health scare, the whole family went through and overcame so much," Hooten shared, noting the father and daughter moment was unlike anything he could have imagined.
The Hollywood Veteran Had Guests Laughing
After making guests cry with his emotional walk down the aisle with Corinne, Jamie unleashed his comedic charm during his speech. "My dad gave a 22-minute improvised speech," the newlywed recalled, adding:
"It was half comedy special and half speech—people were falling out of their chairs laughing."
Jamie's key involvement in his daughter's big day continued with the pair dancing to the song he wrote for Corinne called "Heaven." The latter claimed she always knew they would groove to the track at her wedding, noting, "It is such a special song for us."
Jamie Foxx Addressed His Health Scare
In July, The Blast reported that Jamie had finally shed light on his 2023 hospitalization. He addressed what happened while speaking to a group in downtown Phoenix.
Jamie explained that his condition started with a "bad headache," which he took Advil for; however, things only got worse. He claimed he was "gone for 20 days" and "couldn't remember anything."
"So they told me I'm in Atlanta, they told me, my sister, my daughter took me to the first doctor," Jamie recalled. "Next doctor said, 'something's going on up there,'" he continued while pointing at his head.
Despite sharing more about his health scare, Jamie Foxx refused to share what sparked the issue. However, he seems to be doing better than ever.
