Artem Chigvintsev Slams Estranged Wife As 'The Aggressor' In Domestic Violence Drama

The "Dancing With The Stars" alum and the former professional wrestler each have a restraining order following claims of physical violence. While Nikki blames her estranged husband, he recently shared a different story.

In his restraining order filing, Artem Chigvintsev named his estranged wife the real aggressor in the domestic violence incident. He backed his claims with proof of Nikki Garcia's alleged abuse.

Chigvintsev recalled the behind-the-scenes details of what led to his arrest on domestic violence charges on August 29. He painted Garcia as the problem, describing her as an aggressor with anger issues.

The Russian professional dancer claimed the day started somewhat peacefully, with him preparing breakfast for the estranged couple's son, Matteo, in their Napa County, California home.

He noted Garcia had been contemplating what to wear to a Netflix event when she suddenly picked a fight over the way he prepared their son's toast. Her alleged complaints continued with criticism for placing two food options, a quesadilla and chicken tenders, in Matteo's lunch box.

According to documents obtained by TMZ, Chigvintsev claimed he avoided Garcia by moving to the living room to prepare their son for school. However, she followed him and found more to complain about, chastising him for not putting on Matteo's shoes properly.

Unable to withstand Garcia's alleged criticisms, Chigvintsev noted he defended himself, which only upset her. She retaliated by throwing sneakers at him, hitting the dancer's chest.

Chigvintsev claimed Garcia started screaming about getting a divorce while their son watched them, frightened and confused. To protect the boy, he took him upstairs and closed the bedroom door, but his estranged wife was relentless.

Garcia allegedly followed him upstairs and tried to get into the bedroom. Chigvintsev attempted to stop her, but she shoved her way in and physically attacked him. The pair grappled on the floor before the dancer broke free and called 911.

He backed his claims with pictures of injuries to his hand, elbow, and the back of his head. However, earlier reports of the incident claimed cops had found wounds on Garcia's body and not Chigvintsev.

Chigvintsev recalled Garcia shouting threats in the background during his 911 call. At one point, she allegedly said, "Do you understand here this is gonna go now Artem. You just ruined my career, and you know it."

When authorities arrived, the pair gave their versions of what happened, but Chigvintsev argued that Garcia's statements were filled with lies. He alleged she told a false narrative to get him arrested on domestic violence charges.

His case seemed convincing enough for the judge who signed off on his restraining order petition. Chigvintsev's protection request was granted days after Garcia filed her physical violence claims against him.

Garcia shared a similar version of events but painted Chigvintsev as the aggressor. She claimed he berated her over their son's breakfast and school preparations, pushing her to the point where she threw Matteo's shoes at him.

Following the incident, the former professional wrestler claimed that she tried to get into their son's room, but Chigvintsev opened the door and tackled her to the ground. She noted he left but attacked her a second time when she attempted to open Matteo's bedroom door.

Chigvintsev, per her claims, pushed her across the hall into their bedroom and forced her to the floor in their bathroom. She alleged that he had his hands on her chest near her sternum, pressing down so hard that she felt like she was suffocating.

The pain forced her to defend herself, and she grabbed Chigvintsev's neck, attempting to get him off her. A judge awarded Garcia a restraining order on Monday, September 30.

Weeks before Chigvintsev's restraining order petition, The Blast reported that prosecutors had decided not to pursue the domestic violence charges. He celebrated the victory in a statement, noting he was "incredibly relieved and grateful."

Chigvintsev added that it had been an "extremely difficult time for him," but he remained "thankful that the truth has prevailed." He further stressed that his priorities revolved around his son, declaring:

"He is my world, and being his father is the greatest blessing in my life. All along, my main concern has been for him. I am committed to continuing to provide him with the love, support, and care he needs as we move forward."
