Halle Berry's Ex Olivier Martinez Is Demanding $360,000 Amid Custody Battle

Halle Berry's issues with her ex-husband, Olivier Martinez, continue with new demands for attorney fees.

The Hollywood Veteran's former spouse recently requested that she cover his legal expenses. Martinez blames her for dragging them to court over their differences. Martinez claims he is broke and wants "The Union" star to foot his bills.

Halle Berry and Olivier Martinez have been at odds since their divorce as they couldn't see eye to eye about their son's custody. Despite agreeing to attend co-parenting counseling, the exes are far from amicable.

According to court documents, Martinez implored the court to order Berry to cover his legal costs and reimburse him for the money he has spent. He asked for $363,270.59, a massive sum he believed his ex could pay.

The breakdown included $320,000 for attorney fees, $25,000 for a forensic accountant, $7,500 for a custody expert, and $10,000 for transcript costs. Martinez stressed that the money was crucial to the legal battle.

The French actor noted that $150,000 of the funds, if granted, would be used to cover the services a legal firm provided to him from March to September.Additionally, he wanted Berry to reimburse the $55,000 he paid the firm.

According to the documents obtained by In Touch, Martinez paid the legal fees by getting a $45,000 loan, and the balance was covered with the sale of his Rolex watch — an event he argued wouldn't have happened without Berry's unwillingness to settle.

Martinez blamed Berry for dragging them to court despite being "well aware that" he did not have the "funds to maintain to continue litigation at all." He accused his ex of being difficult at every turn, claiming she continues:

"To engage in the same pattern of insisting on attorney involvement at almost every turn, only now she is refusing to engage in any settlement or mediation efforts."

"Once hired, his current counsel asked [Halle] for an attorney fee contribution given the enormous disparity between the parties' incomes and assets. [Halle] denied this request, thus denying [Olivier's] access to justice," the claims continued, adding:

"She has fought [Olivier] aggressively, choosing the most expensive manner of dispute resolution — through the Court system, refusing continuances and foregoing hearings that she admittedly believes would waste resources."

Two months before Martinez's demands, The Blast reported that Berry had accused him of trying to sabotage her by conspiring with a former employee. She claimed he attempted to influence their son Maceo's therapist so she would:

"View [Halle] as a risk to Maceo by communicating false stories about [Halle's] relationship with Maceo through a former employee."

The former employee, Erica, allegedly emailed the therapist "per Oliver's request" and asked for a "confidential conversation" with the counselor to address her time in Berry's household. The accusations continued:

"Olivier lied and went behind my back trying to dig up negative information about me from a former employee and pressuring her to speak to [the therapist] without obtaining my consent, which Olivier later admitted to me."

The conspiracy drama came at the heels of Berry's petition to obtain full custody of her son. She filed the documents after her request to make Martinez attend their co-parenting counseling sessions was rejected.

She slammed her ex for "unilaterally decided to defer co-parenting therapy altogether until September because he was traveling to France in the month of July and because his brother will be visiting him in the month of August in Los Angeles."

Berry stressed that their co-parenting therapy sessions were supposed to be completed by June 14, 2024, but they had not even started. Despite falling behind schedule, Martinez chose to take" 'the summer off.'"

In her petition, Berry accused Martinez of being uncooperative. She claimed she had "tried everything to foster a better co-parenting relationship with Olivier," but "rather than support, she is met with resistance and conflict."

Meanwhile, Martinez argued that his ex-wife was the problem. His attorney addressed the situation in a statement, bashing Berry for "constantly attempting to harass and strong-arm Respondent [Martinez] by forcing him into 'submission' using her wealth and the legal professionals at her disposal."
