Sydney Sweeney Shines As Glamour’s 2024 Woman Of The Year

Sydney Sweeney has become an overnight sensation, and now she can add Glamour's 2024 Woman of the Year to her resume.

After being named Glamour's 2024 Woman of the Year, Sydney Sweeney opened up about her journey to stardom, her passion for pushing boundaries, and what this new title means to her.

Known for her breakout roles in "Euphoria" and "The White Lotus," Sydney Sweeney has proven her ability to portray complex characters with depth and nuance.

“We’re all on our own and very distinct journeys, and everyone’s experience with different scenarios is unique," she told Glamour. "So I can talk to people, like we all have a universal feeling about different things, but it’s a very lonely industry.”

“I definitely think through everything that I do and every move I make,” she says. “There’s nothing that I do that is just by happenstance, but also I’m very flexible with the moves that have to be made. It’s important. This industry is like playing chess.”

Sweeney’s path to Hollywood wasn’t easy—she faced rejections and financial hardships early on, but despite the challenges, her determination never wavered.

At age 12, she presented her parents with a five-year business plan to convince them to let her audition for roles, showcasing her drive and strategic mindset from an early age, which helped launch her into stardom.

“I’ve accomplished and bought everything myself," she told the outlet. "And I provide for myself and my family.”

Sydney Sweeney has openly discussed her experiences with body image and how being self-conscious about her breasts affected her, particularly as her career began to take off. In several interviews, she shared that growing up, she faced a lot of teasing and judgment because of her body.

“That means a lot to me because I really believe in empowering others and feeling powerful with your body and embracing your sexuality,” she told Glamour. “And if you have boobs, great. Flaunt them.”

Sweeney has also taken control of her career by founding her production company, Fifty-Fifty Films, which focuses on creating more complex and multi-dimensional roles for women in Hollywood. "I’ve never met someone who has an aptitude for so much," he told Glamour. "But the thing that really makes her a movie star, or a Glamour Woman of the Year, is that she’s able to effortlessly move through this world and be convincing in all these different things but also maintain her humanity."

He continued, "I think people feel that on screen. Everybody knows she’s talented and magnetic and beautiful, and all those things, but I think her heart’s going to be what takes her the distance.”

Glamour's Woman of the Year is an annual honor awarded by Glamour magazine to recognize women who have made significant contributions in their fields, from entertainment and fashion to activism and business.
