Inside The Rocky Relationship Of Shannon And John Amos

Shannon's relationship with her father had its share of challenges. The family drama first caught public attention when Shannon initiated a GoFundMe campaign, claiming he was battling for his life in the ICU. However, he later said this was false.

The “Good Times” star then found himself embroiled in allegations of elder abuse, but showed inconsistency about whether he was a victim.

At first, he maintained that he was not a victim. However, he later changed his stance, asserting that he had indeed suffered elder abuse and that his daughter, who initiated the GoFundMe campaign, was the one to blame.

“She would be the primary suspect — if you would,” John said in a video filmed from his hospital bed at the time. “I don’t know if that’s the right term to use or not. But she’s the one that I would attribute my elderly abuse to. It’s definitely a case of elderly abuse."

Shannon Amos Files Complaint With The Colorado Bureau Of Investigation

In June 2023, Shannon alleged in a lengthy Instagram post that John was facing “elder abuse and financial exploitation.”

She filed a complaint with the Colorado Bureau of Investigation and launched the GoFundMe page to raise funds for "care expenses" for the actor. However, the page was later taken down at his request.

The investigation into the allegations of neglect concerning John Amos has since been closed due to insufficient evidence.
