Now that summer is upon us, it seems everyone is looking to slim down for bikini season.
With so many fad diets out there, it’s hard to know the right way to get lean. Should you ditch your favorite carbs and kick those sugary snacks to the curb?
Fortunately, “Dancing with the Stars” talent Julianne Hough sat down to share her daily diet to maintain those killer abs.
Breakfast
Although the jury is still out on whether you should workout fasted, Hough chooses to have a light smoothie first thing in the morning to kickstart her metabolism.
“I usually like it a little sweeter, less bitter, so I put in a green apple, some spinach, kale,” she explained. “Again, if I want it sweeter, I’ll put some carrots in. But I love ginger, and lemon too, so I’ll put that in. Cucumber, celery, anything green, really. Sometimes I’ll add beets too, depending on my mood.”
She added that she completes her morning with steamed eggs, served with tomato and avocado, and occasionally some hot water with lemon as well.
Lunch
Hough is all about those leafy greens!
She’s especially fond of chicken and vegetables, whether in a salad or inside a wrap.
One of her favorite staples is a “mixed green salad with tomatoes, cucumbers, hearts of palm, almonds, edamame, banana peppers, and olive oil and squeezed lemon.”
She’s also fond of revisiting a special sandwich she and her brother Derek Hough created when they were kids: peanut butter and banana sandwiches with salt and vinegar potato chips for that extra crunch!
Dinner
Hough usually makes lean proteins like chicken or fish the star of her meal, but she admits to indulging in Italian favorites once in a while, especially penne arrabbiata and Margherita pizza.
She also knows a thing or two about good wine: Hough has partnered up with gal pal of Nina Dobrev of “The Vampire Diaries” fame to create their own line of vegan rose wine.
It seems the pair worked to make their upcoming line available to everyone: it’s reportedly low-calorie, low-carb, contains no additives, keto and vegan-friendly, and gluten-free.
Snack Time!
Even Hough has a sweet tooth!
Although she occasionally munches on dark chocolate covered almonds to satisfy a craving, she revealed that she’ll indulge in the occasional dish of ice cream or sticky toffee pudding.
She also loves chowing down on Milk Duds or Sour Patch Watermelons, proving that you don’t have to cut all of your favorite foods out of your diet to get the body of your dreams.
Everything in moderation!
