Mike Tyson is regarded worldwide as one of the greatest boxers to ever do it. He’s had some very iconic moments throughout his career such as Bruce Seldon and biting Evander Holyfield’s ear during one of their epic fights. Tyson ended up coming out of retirement in November 2020 to fight another legend in Roy Jones Jr as they battled to a tie.
Now, Tyson has officially come out and said that he will be fighting in 2021 as well against another boxing legend who he faced off against in the past.
Tyson To Fight Lennox Lewis This Fall
Tyson spoke to TMZ Sports in Los Angeles on Tuesday night at Catch and revealed that his opponent will be Lennox Lewis. In February, Lennox also told TMZ that he was open to fighting Tyson but that it was up to the fans if they wanted it to happen and apparently, that is the case now. Tyson simply said “I’m gonna fight Lennox Lewis.” Tyson originally wanted Evander Holyfield in late May but both sides couldn’t agree on the financial details of the fight.
Tyson And Lewis Fought In 2002
This won’t be the first time that Tyson and Lewis step into the ring against each other. This upcoming fight vs Tyson is likely an exhibition but back in 2002, they went at it for real. Tyson ended up suffering the loss to Lewis in June of that year as he lost via knockout in the eighth round. At that point in both of their careers though, they weren’t what they were in the 80s and 90s. Nonetheless, Lennox showed that he still had something left in the tank.
Tyson’s Official Last Fight Was In 2005
Mike Tyson officially concluded his boxing career in 2005 after he came out for one final fight. This was against Kevin McBride as he took a loss here. Tyson called it quits in the sixth round as this fight was scheduled for 10 rounds. He ended up finishing his career with a 50-6 record and still regarded as a legend in the sport and one of the best to ever do it.
Tyson Made Headlines Last Fall After Interviewing Boosie Badazz
Tyson also had social media buzzing last fall when he interviewed Boosie Badazz on his “Hotboxin’ With Mike Tyson” podcast. One of the topics discussed was Boosie bashing Dwyane Wade and Gabrielle Union’s 13-year-old child, Zaya Wade, coming out as transgender earlier that year. Tyson pressed Boosie about this issue heavily, even alluding to Boosie possibly being homosexual.
“Why do you say things about people who might be a homosexual? Why do you say that about them?” Tyson asks in the video. “Do you feel there’s a possibility that you’re a homosexual and by disrespecting them you further yourself from being a homosexual? I’m thinking you may like homosexuals.”
