Halle Bailey may have brought Disney magic to life as Ariel in "The Little Mermaid," but when it comes to taking her son on his first trip to the Disney Parks, the actress and singer is choosing to wait.
In early January 2024, the actress and her longtime partner, DDG, announced the birth of their son, Halo, with an adorable photo showcasing his tiny hand adorned with a bracelet bearing his name.
For the first six months, Halle Bailey and DDG kept Halo’s face out of the spotlight, before sharing sweet family photos from their Italian getaway.

Halle Bailey opened up about her decision to keep her pregnancy private during the 2024 Essence Black Women in Hollywood Awards on March 7.
“What was one of the biggest highlights of my life, and to be real, one of the biggest challenges, too, cannot compare to the biggest joy of my life, and that was becoming a mom to my perfect little angel, Halo," she said at the time. “There was no way in hell I was going to share the biggest joy of my world with anyone."
She added, “Halo was my gift. He is the greatest blessing, and I had no obligation to expose him, me, or my family to that unyielding spotlight.”
Since welcoming Halo, Bailey has already taken him to a Bruno Mars concert, brought him along for a gym session, and enjoyed a family vacation in Italy. However, when it comes to visiting the Disney Parks, she admits that the trip will have to wait a little longer.

Halle Bailey is eagerly looking forward to sharing the magic of a Disney vacation with her son, but the trip is currently on hold because she wants her son to fully appreciate the experience when the time is right.
“I want him to remember it and truly take it in,” she told People Magazine. "But, I want him to be old enough to know what's going on. So I'm like, 'What's the best age [to bring him?'], and people keep telling me three or four is just a good age, because they will know what's up."
Halle Bailey Opens Up About Postpartum Depression
The actress welcomed her son in December 2023 and has expressed her joy ever since. While motherhood has been a wonderful experience for Bailey, she is beginning to let her guard down and share the challenges of this new chapter in her life.
"I just wanted to speak a little bit about my postpartum journey as a new mom," Bailey said in a video to her fans. "I have severe, severe postpartum [depression], and I don't know if any new moms can relate, but it's to the point where it's really bad, and it's hard for me to be separated from my baby for more than 30 minutes at a time before I start to kind of freak out."
Halle Bailey On Her Struggles With Body Image
In addition to dealing with postpartum depression, the singer revealed she is also struggling with her body image.
"Before I had a child and I would hear people talk about postpartum, it would kind of just go in one ear and out the other... I didn't realize how serious of a thing it actually was," she added. "Now going through it, it feels like you're swimming in this ocean that's like the biggest waves you've ever felt, and you're trying not to drown."
"Halo is a miracle. He is perfect. He is beautiful. When I look at him, I cry because of how special he is. The only thing that's been hard for me is feeling normal in my own body," the actress admitted. "I feel like a completely different person when I look in the mirror. I just feel like I'm in a whole new body, and I don't know who I am."
Halle Bailey Says Her Depression Has Nothing To Do With Her Son
Though Halle Bailey is experiencing postpartum depression following the birth of her son, she emphasizes that Halo is not the cause of her struggles with depression.
"It has nothing to do with my baby. It has everything to do with me and who I am right now," she said. "I guess today I was just triggered -- especially [since] social media is just not a good thing to be on when you have postpartum -- but I was just really triggered today, especially by seeing some of the things that have been said about me and my family, and the one that I love and the ones that I love."
If you or someone you know are dealing with symptoms of postpartum depression, call your primary health care provider or your gynecologist and schedule an appointment.
