Chappell Roan No Longer Performing At Music Festival: 'Really Feeling' Overwhelmed After Busy Week

Singer Chappell Roan has announced she will no longer be performing at the All Things Go music festival taking place this weekend in New York and D.C.

Roan, 26, has made headlines this week for two TikTok videos. The singer explained her reluctance to endorse Vice President Kamala Harris in the upcoming presidential election in the first one, posted on Tuesday night. The "Red Wine Supernova" singer doubled down on her stance following further fan backlash in a second TikTok post the next morning.

The "California" singer announced via an Instagram story on Friday afternoon that she will not be performing on September 28th in New York City, and on the following day in D.C.

The All Things Go music festival will take place on Saturday and Sunday and features many popular bands and artists. Headliners include Janelle Monae, Bleachers, Renee Rapp, Hozier, and Conan Grey.

The "Casual" singer was set to perform on both days and in both locations. She was set to headline Sunday's date at New York City's Forest Hills Stadium.

Roan made her announcement via a note on her Instagram story, taking time to apologize to disappointed fans who were looking forward to seeing her perform at both shows.

While the All Things Go festival has not made an announcement about Roan's cancellation on their website as of this writing, they expressed their support on Instagram by reposting the "HOT TO GO!" singer's letter.

In white text on a black background, the singer wrote to fans, "I apologize to people who have been waiting to see me in NYC & DC this weekend at All Things Go, but I am unable to perform," she began.

The "Coffee" singer continued, "Things have gotten overwhelming over the past few weeks and I am really feeling it. I feel pressures to prioritize a lot of things right now and I need a few days to prioritize my health," Roan continued, likely referring to this week's TikTok controversy.

"I want to be present when I perform and give the best shows possible," the "Love Me Anyway" singer went on to say. Roan closed her letter by thanking readers for their understanding.

Fans took to social media to share their thoughts following Roan's news.

"I can’t even blame Chappell Roan for canceling her performance for the weekend. Far too many people are being dense as f---," one commentator wrote on X.

"People: f--- Chappell Roan she’s the worst she always complains I hate her f--- her Also people when she cancels because of the hate she’s getting: urgh why did she cancel," another posted.

"Cancelling with a 24h notice AGAIN… Chappell Roan is probably the most unprofessional artist of this new generation I SAID WHAT I SAID," a disappointed X user chimed in.

"Defending Chappell Roan on my lunch break like it’s my job," a Roan fan wrote.

"Y'all need to stop buying tickets to festivals for one artist. It's a festival. Not a Chappell Roan concert. You're allowed to be upset, but you cannot be upset AT her. She's prioritizing her mental health, which is much more important than a performance! Hope this helps!" another added in Roan's defense.

The performer has been extremely open with the public about her mental health struggles, specifically with depression.

As previously reported by The Blast, Roan opened up about seeking treatment in an interview with The Guardian. The singer candidly revealed her diagnosis of "severe depression" had been shocking.

"I went to a psychiatrist last week because I was like, I don't know what's going on," Roan explained in the interview. "She diagnosed me with severe depression – which I didn't think I had because I'm not actually sad. But I have every symptom of someone who's severely depressed."

Roan was also extremely honest with the impact depression has had on her life; the singer plans to leave the public eye if she thinks it will be detrimental enough. The "Picture You" singer also compared the perils of dealing with fame to having an "abusive ex-husband."

After speaking to The Guardian about her plans to endorse either Kamala Harris or Donald Trump for president, fans and spectators called her out for refusing to endorse a particular candidate.

After attempting to clarify her thoughts, Roan returned to TikTok the next day and continued to clarify her stance once more.
