Justin Bieber continues to be one of the biggest music stars in the world as he’s been very consistent as well. He’s released two albums over the past year which have hit No 1. on the Billboard 200 chart as this dominance has been a trend for the Canadian pop star over the last decade. Bieber is now trending on social media for a new hairstyle he showed off on Instagram which is starting to cause some controversy.
Bieber Shows Off New Look
Bieber posted a photo to his Instagram feed of him showing off his hair that was formed into dreadlocks. From that point, many accused Bieber of cultural appropriation. Many other white celebrities have attempted dreadlocks in the past as well and haven’t been able to pull the looks off as cultural appropriation was evident there as well. Fans in Bieber’s Instagram comments also agreed that this is the case and that him sporting these dreadlocks wasn’t a great decision by him.
Bieber’s ‘Justice’ Album Faced Some Criticism As Well
Bieber’s “Justice” album was released on March 19 and won big immediately. This project debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart and was led by hits such as “Lonely” and the platinum, chart-topping “Peaches” single feat. Giveon and Daniel Caesar. Controversy fell into this album though due to Bieber using MLK’s audio on “MLK Interlude.”
“I’m not trying to make a connection between me and Martin Luther King,” explained Bieber of the song. (Via Billboard) That’s why I never try to talk about social injustice or I didn’t want to be the one to talk about it because I just have so much more learning to do. But I have this man who was ready to die and what he believed to be true.
Bieber’s ‘Changes’ Album Also Dominated In 2020
Bieber’s “Changes” album was also released in February 2020 and served as his fifth studio album. This was a project which received high praise as well and also had plenty of hits for JB as usual. These were “Yummy,” “Forever” feat. Post Malone and Clever, and “Intentions” featuring Quavo. Changes went on to debut at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart and is also certified platinum in the US. 13 months later, “Justice” was another home run for Bieber.
Bieber Will Appear On DJ Khaled’s Upcoming Album
Bieber will also be collaborating with DJ Khaled again, as he will appear on Khaled’s upcoming 12th studio album. This project is titled “Khaled Khaled.” Khaled revealed on his Instagram feed that he is already mixing Bieber’s vocals along with Justin Timberlake‘s. Khaled and Bieber have plenty of hits together such as “I’m The One,” which also included Quavo and Chance The Rapper in 2017 along with “No Brainer” in 2019, which also featured all of these artists.
