Two months after Richard Simmons' heartbreaking demise, the bond between his family and his longtime housekeeper has soured over his estate.

The late fitness icon's loved ones recently addressed Teresa Reveles' move to be reinstated as a co-trustee of Simmons' estate after declining the position.

Richard Simmons' family bashed the housekeeper as greedy, arguing that she was more interested in profiting off the deceased's name than honoring his legacy. However, she shared a different story in her filing.

The drama began when Reveles filed a petition to be reinstated as a co-trustee for Simmons' estate. She alleged that the fitness guru's brother Lenny and his wife Cathy misled her into giving up the role amid her grief.

Lenny was the other co-trustee of the estate as well as a beneficiary. However, the longtime housekeeper was only a beneficiary after dropping the trustee role, but the others argued that her rights weren't affected.

Tom Estey, a spokesperson for the Simmons family, addressed the situation in a lengthy statement. He bashed Reveles for creating discord and not upholding the values her former employer treasured. He told PEOPLE:

"Richard's message was always one of joy and positivity. He would be heartbroken to learn of Teresa's greed and insulted that she would diminish their three decades of supposed friendship in such a public way."

The statement continued with more criticism against Reveles, with the attorney noting, "Her actions threaten to harm Richard's incredible legacy, which we are working hard to preserve."

"Richard took impeccable care of Teresa and made sure, even after his passing, that she was well taken care of. She is a significant beneficiary of his will," the legal rep stressed, adding:

"She made an informed decision to decline to serve as co-trustee of the estate, which does not affect her status as a beneficiary at all."

"The allegations in the petition are completely and demonstrably false, and we have informed her counsel of those facts," the statement noted, claiming Reveles' behavior was why her Simmons' family did not want her to be reinstated as a co-trustee.

The Simmons family's attorney stressed that "co-trustees must work together in the best interests of the estate," but Reveles "has shown by her actions that she does not share those interests." The rep continued:

"Even now, two months after he died, she is staying in his house, even though she has her own residence, and she has attempted to charge the estate for her living expenses."

The allegations about Simmons' housekeeper did not end there, with the lawyer noting that "a documentary has been pitched to Netflix that identifies Teresa as the principal source and contributor."

The rep noted the family believed Reveles' participation in the alleged documentary would be "to Richard's legacy." He doubled down on her problematic behavior, claiming she was wasting assets that would go to the estate's beneficiaries with her "meritless and pointless litigation."

In her petition, Simmons' housekeeper asked the court to ban his brother Lenny from making any profits using the fitness guru's image and likeness. However, a judge has yet to decide on the case.

Reveles has been making waves since Simmons' passing on July 13. The Blast reported that she shared more about his final days, revealing he enjoyed "joyful" moments with the neighborhood skunks.

Every night, a family of skunks visited Simmons' back door in West Hollywood, where he fed them peanuts by hand. He and the creatures had grown so close that Reveles claimed he could touch their noses.

"'Richard! They probably have rabies!' I would tell him," She recalled warning him; however, he would not be dissuaded from feeding the skunks. Reveles also reflected on Simmons' death, noting, "he died happy."

Reveles shared that Simmons spent the last weeks of his life calling fans and answering their emails. He planned to return to the spotlight in an ABC documentary about his life and do an interview with Diane Sawyer.

Simmons also wrote a Broadway musical based on his life; however, things changed when he suffered a bathroom fall. On the morning of his 76th birthday, he allegedly told Reveles: "Teresa, I can't go down, my legs hurt a lot."

"Let's go to the hospital. Maybe you broke your leg," Reveles replied, but he told her, "No, Teresa. Not on my birthday. Why don't we wait and we do it in the morning."

Unfortunately, the housekeeper found Richard Simmons unresponsive the following day. He died from "blunt traumatic injuries" caused by his fall, and his passing was ruled as an accident.
