Nikki Garcia's twin sister, Brie Garcia, seemingly addresses her estrangement from Artem Chigvintsev for the first time.
The former professional wrestler took a cryptic post about "lies" to her Instagram Story on Wednesday. Her message comes a day after her estranged brother-in-law was freed from his domestic violence drama.
Artem Chigvintsev was arrested and charged with felony corporal injury to a spouse last month for allegedly attacking Nikki Garcia. She has since filed to end their marriage and obtain full custody of their son, Matteo.
How Does Brie Garcia Feel About Her Twin Sister's Fallout With Artem Chigvintsev?
The whole picture of what happened between Nikki and Chigvintsev has yet to be unveiled; however, both parties keep implying the other was at fault. Brie seemingly supported her twin sister by calling her estranged husband out with a cryptic quote.
She reposted a message from the Narcissistic Personality Disorder Mother Facebook Resource Page that appeared to respond to Chigvintsev's statement about his dropped domestic violence charges. The quote read:
"The truth always comes out in the end, no matter how hard anyone tries to hide it or stop it. Lies are just a temporary delay to the inevitable."
At the bottom, Brie added a loading gif as though telling fans to watch out for more. As stated, her cryptic message came a day after her estranged brother-in-law addressed prosecutors' decision not to pursue the domestic violence charges against him.
The 'DWTS' Dancer Says 'The Truth Has Prevailed'
The Blast reported that Chigvintsev shared his joy after being freed from the domestic violence drama. He noted that he was "incredibly relieved and grateful" following an "extremely difficult time for him."
The "Dancing With The Stars" alum also implied that his initial arrest for allegedly hurting Nikki was bogus, stating he was "thankful that the truth has prevailed." On that note, he added that he prioritized his son Matteo instead of fixing his broken marriage.
"He is my world, and being his father is the greatest blessing in my life. All along, my main concern has been for him. I am committed to continuing to provide him with the love, support, and care he needs as we move forward," Chigvintsev said.
Chigvintsev Is Pushing For A Co-Parenting Relationship
The professional dancer doubled down on Matteo being his top priority, noting he would fight for an equal custody arrangement with his estranged wife. He also thanked his loved ones and legal team for staying by his side, saying:
"Your support has been invaluable, and I am thankful to everyone who believed in me and saw the truth for what it was."
Chigvintsev concluded his statement with his hope for the future, noting that he couldn't wait to move past the drama and focus wholly on being his son's best father. Despite his wishes, Nikki's plans do not involve a co-parenting relationship.
Nikki Garcia Asked For Full Custody Of Matteo
Weeks after Chigvintsev's arrest, The Blast shared that Nikki had filed to end their marriage over "irreconcilable differences." She listed August 29, the day her estranged husband was taken into custody, as the date of their separation.
Nikki asked the court to terminate its ability to award them spousal support and requested full legal and physical custody of her son, Matteo. However, she agreed to let Chigvintsev keep his visitation rights.
The former professional wrestler's actions were unsurprising as she reportedly began searching for a divorce lawyer after Chigvintsev's arrest. She also ditched her wedding ring while appearing on Netflix's "Joey Chestnut vs Kobayashi" hotdog-eating contest.
Artem Chigvintsev Not The 'Primary Aggressor' In The Domestic Violence Incident?
According to Chigvintsev's attorney, Ilona Antonyan, he wasn't the instigator of the domestic violence incident. She seemingly implied Nikki was the threat and not her client, saying:
"My understanding of the investigated facts surrounding the 8/29/24 incident have led me to conclude from the beginning that Artem was not the primary aggressor."
"I believe that to be true even if the burden of proof would be the preponderance of evidence, which is the standard of proof in family court. He was protecting himself and Matteo," Chigvintsev's attorney told PEOPLE, adding:
"Fortunately, he has a strong support group of loving family and friends. I am confident he will move forward from this situation with strength and dignity."
Did the domestic violence incident between Artem Chigvintsev and Nikki Garcia stem from self-defense, as his lawyer claims?
