NeNe Leakes' Bank Account Set To Be Garnished Over Unpaid Rent For Her Former Boutique

NeNe Leakes' bank account becomes the latest collateral in her ongoing debt case!

The reality star's Truist Bank account funds will reportedly be seized by the MPG-Sugarloaf company as part of legal proceedings to recover her unpaid debt on one of their facilities.

NeNe Leakes was dragged to court by the company in August 2023 following a claim that they leased a commercial property to the star for her Swagg Boutique in 2017.

A Georgia judge reportedly approved MPG-Sugarloaf's request to extract funds from NeNe's bank account to settle the debt. The "RHOA" star reportedly did not appear in court to oppose the request, which means they will proceed with the process.

MPG-Sugarloaf entered into a business agreement with the celebrity for her boutique's physical store and stated in their lawsuit that she failed to pay $22,000 in rent charges when she left the property.

The boutique reportedly shut down during the pandemic and reopened for a few months before eventually closing up for good in 2022. According to In Touch, the company demanded in the lawsuit that she pays up the entire unpaid balance plus the interest amassed.

Following the filing of the suit, NeNe took to social media to clarify that it was not her duty to pay the debt as her late husband, Gregg Leakes, signed the lease.

" Gregg signed the lease, not me! He ain't here." NeNe said of her late husband, who passed three years ago at the age of 66. NeNe was served with the paper outside her mansion in Atlanta, but she has not reported to court to respond to the allegations since August 2023.

By November 2023, a default judgment totaling $25,631 was entered against the star, and the landlord of NeNe's former boutique sent a series of summons to financial establishments believed to be in charge of NeNe's funds. The summons instructions reads:

"Immediately hold all money, including wages, and other property, except what is known to be exempt, including property in safe deposit boxes or similar property that you hold, belonging to the Defendant named above beginning on the day of service of this summons and including the next five days."

The star has certainly had her fair share of legal woes this year. She disclosed in an emotional interview on Carlos King's "Reality With The King" podcast that she feels helpless about her son, Bryant's battle with addiction.

The Blast reported that NeNe's son was arrested in early July and jailed in the Gwinnett County Jail on a $6,100 bail after the cops found "a small plastic bag that contained a white powdery substance."

He bagged multiple charges, including violation of probation in two cases, possession of a scheduled II controlled substance, loitering/prowling, and providing a false name, address, or birthdate to the authorities.

A vulnerable NeNe stated on the podcast that Bryant needed rehabilitation and a lot of counseling. In her words:

"Like many families out there, I have family members who are struggling with drugs and certain addictions. He has an addiction. He's been struggling with it for years. He's been in rehab for a couple of times, and he still has come back out and relapsed."

NeNe noted that there is nothing she can do in the phase of his struggle with drugs until he makes a change for himself and turns a new leaf.

"He is [33] years old, he's an adult. He has three children — three beautiful children — who I adore. He has a wife," the Bravo star noted. "As a mother, I would never wash my hands of my child, right? But, I'm kind of numb to it because it's been happening for so many years."

If there is one thing NeNe has found hard to get over, it is Gregg's death. The Blast shared a detailed account of her doctor's appointment when she had to write down an emergency contact from an emotional episode of her YouTube series "# Lifeof NeNe."

The 56-year-old stated that she got emotional because he could not think of anyone other than her late husband. However, she finally put down her son as her emergency contact.

The experience left her yearning to enter a romantic partnership with someone, even if romantic love was absent. In her words:

"Maybe we will have an agreement that this person would be there for me, and I would be there for them during hard times or medical times or something like that."

NeNe continued that the partnership will come with freedom to see whoever they wish to see outside their relationship.
