Chappell Roan Proclaims She Is 'Done Talking' About Reluctance To Endorse Presidential Candidate Kamala Harris

Singer Chappell Roan is over discussing her reluctance to endorse a presidential candidate in the United States Presidential election.

The "Good Luck, Babe!" singer is under fire for refusing to join the ranks of entertainers like Taylor Swift and Billie Eilish with an endorsement of Democratic Presidential candidate Kamala Harris. Multiple entertainers have publicly endorsed the current Vice President, with less than 50 days left until Election Day in the United States.

Roan, 26, has explained why she chooses not to support a particular candidate. As The Blast previously reported, the "Casual" singer encouraged fans and followers to approach voting by "using their critical thinking skills" before casting their vote for Harris, or the Republican candidate, former President Donald Trump.

In a recent interview with The Guardian, Roan said, "I have issues with our government in every way. There are so many things I would want to change. So I don't feel pressure to endorse someone..."

The "Red Wine Supernova" singer also added there were "problems on both sides" of the aisle. "I encourage people to use your critical thinking skills, use your vote," she continued. "Vote small, vote for what's going on in your city."

The "HOT TO GO!" singer stressed she would love to see a change in the country's perspective on trans rights.

"They cannot have cis people making decisions for trans rights, period," Roan stressed.

Social media reactions to Roan's comments began flooding in following the interview's publication, and they were largely negative.

The comment section of the "After Midnight" singer's latest Instagram photo was full of disappointed responses from fans.

"Your comments about both sides are incredibly tone deaf," said one Instagram user. "Only one party wants to ban drag, and it's not Democrats."

"You need to educate yourself more about LGBTQIAP+ community history and what kind of activities republicans have on them. There are no sides when one party threatens our life," another wrote.

"You need to take a close look at 'both sides' and get back to us. You’re on thin ice, child. Thin. Ice," another commentator added.

The "Pink Pony Club" singer responded to the backlash on TikTok on Tuesday night.

She began, "I have encouraged people to use their critical thinking skills, learn about what they're voting for, learn about who they're voting for, and it's being completely taken out of context," adding, "There is nuance to what I say in interviews, and I think it's important that people use critical thinking."

The "California" singer went on to say, "I think it's important for me to question authority and question world leaders, and question myself, and question my algorithm, question if some person that tweeted something about someone else is even true. It's important to question because that's how I think we move forward."

"This is my third election in voting," Roan said. "And the world is changing so rapidly, and I want to be part of the generation that changes things for good because we need it."

The singer continued to defend herself and her stance. She stressed that her "actions have always paved the way for my project, and the people who really know me."

"Actions speak louder than words, and actions speak louder than an endorsement," Roan added.

In a TikTok from Wednesday morning, Roan lamented people "skewing" her comments "even more" and explained "endorsing and voting are completely different."

However, her comments continued to prove controversial among fans.

"The Rise and Fall of A Midwest Princess" was released last September.

The singer recently made a splash at the MTV Music Video Awards, hosted earlier this month on September 11.
