Jennifer Lopez & Alex Rodriguez seem to be taking “we are better off as friends” to heart after officially breaking off their two-year engagement in early April.
After rumors of relationship issues surfaced in March, the couple called it quits and issued an official statement.
In the released statement, the former couple wrote, “we have realized we are much better as friends and look forward to remaining so. They shared that they want to continue to work together and support each other on shared businesses and projects.”
When rumors of a breakup initially started to circulate in March, the couple quickly shut them down saying, “We are working through some things.”
A source told People, “They never officially broke up and talked about it but are still together. They hit a rough patch. But were not broken up.”
The couple had to cancel their grand wedding plans due to the ongoing pandemic, and unfortunately their love couldn’t stand the test of time.
But it appears their friendship IS standing the test of time (for now) as they were recently spotted out to dinner together.
Sources exclusively told Page Six the former couple were seen having dinner together over the weekend at the Hotel Bel-Air in Los Angeles.
The dinner date reportedly went down on Friday, April 23rd, a little over a week after they made their official announcement.
Despite the heartache, it appears the pop star and the former MLB player were still close at the amicable meetup.
A source said, “There still seemed to be love and respect there.”
The former lovers had a tight-knit blended family, so it’s great to hear the meetup was amicable.
Lopez just wrapped filming “Shotgun Wedding” in the Dominican Republic and has reportedly been leaning on her ex-husband, Marc Anthony.
We previously reported on Lopez’s reason for breaking off the engagement. The trust issues seem to be too much of a hurdle for Lopez.
According to multiple reports, J Lo has decided to split from her fiance, saying there are “too many issues that are unresolved” which have made her “miserable” over the past few months.
These trust issues possibly stemmed from Rodriguez’s situation with ‘Sourthern Charm’ star Madison LeCroy.
