Although the band had incredible hits and chart-topping songs, they decided to dissolve and pursue independent careers.
Everyone knows the members of this boy band, but what people may not know, is that there was a fourth brother named Franklin.
Recently, Frankie opened up about what it felt like living with famous brothers for most of his life. Find out more details.
About Frankie Jonas
Franklin Nathaniel Jonas was popularly known as the youngest of the Jonas brothers and was born in Ridgewood, New Jersey on September 28, 2000.
When his brothers formed a band, Frankie was only five years old. In 2009, he landed a voice-acting role for a film titled “Ponyo.”
In the movie, he played a character called Sōsuke, who became a friend of a troublesome fish. He made his movie debut in “Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam,” where he starred alongside his older brothers.
As the youngest of the Jonas brothers, Frankie disclosed that he dealt with a lot of personal problems while he was growing up.
He openly discussed his addiction to alcoholism on 2021, which stemmed from being surrounded by famous brothers throughout his life.
The child-star also mentioned that he had suicidal thought severally and struggles with his sobriety for a long time. However, he is trying to get back on his feet.
In a recent interview, Frankie revealed that he was now a student of Colombia University, but did not talk about what he was studying.
Mental Health Struggles
Still speaking about his mental health, Frankie told an interviewer in March that growing up in the public’s eye caused him mental breakdowns all the time.
He went on to say that his “future slowly died” when his brothers decided to pursue their music careers.
“It was a conversation, I don’t remember it, but I’ve been told about it/ regarding the fans of my brothers, who also had a similar kinship to me as this symbol, as this mascot,” he said.
Although the family had plans to include him, things did not go as planned.
The Nickname Frankie Hated
Siblings of popular faces in the world, are often given nicknames, which are sometimes appreciated and other times, hated by the sibling.
In the Jonas brother’s case, fans referred to Frankie as the “bonus Jonas,” which was very upsetting to him.
He recounted that he opened a Twitter profile at age 12, and was shocked at the hurtful memes and jokes that fans wrote about him on the timeline.
“It really became a serious issue for me. A lot of that perpetuated the idea that I was just this meme,” Frankie said.
He went on to say that these ‘jokes’ played a big role in affecting his mental health.
