Rapper T.I. And Wife Tiny Win Big In Intellectual Property Lawsuit Against MGA Entertainment

Rapper T.I. and his wife Tiny are about to be a few million richer thanks to their recent victory in a four-year intellectual property rights case.

The famous couple sued the toy company MGA Entertainment in 2020 for allegedly creating dolls that resembled the members of their OMG Girlz group. The pair formed the all-female group in 2009.

After a weeks-long battle, a jury sided with T.I. and Tiny and awarded them a significant sum. The verdict pleased the "Live Your Life" hitmaker's wife so much that she immediately told fans about it.

According to new reports, T.I. and Tiny's four-year battle with MGA Entertainment wrapped up on Monday, September 23. The jury found the toy company guilty of violating the intellectual property rights of the couple's teen pop group, OMG Girlz.

For their crime, MGA was ordered to cough up a whopping $71 million — $17.9 million in compensatory damages and $53.6 million in punitive damages. The drama between the parties began in 2020.

The toy company released the "L.O.L. Surprise! O.M.G. dolls," which T.I. and Tiny zeroed in on during the weeks-long trial. The couple argued that seven dolls had an identical appearance to their OMG Girlz.

The dolls allegedly copied the band's appearances from "very specific public events," including the image and likeness of Tiny's oldest daughter, Zonnique Pullins. Their arguments moved jurors, who found MGA guilty of infringement, per TMZ.

In their verdict, the jury noted the toy company had infringed on the trade dress and misappropriated the name, image, and likeness of the all-female group that T.I. and Tiny created.

Their words and massive award touched Tiny's heart so much that she immediately celebrated the win with fans. She shot an Instagram Live video outside the federal courthouse in Santa Ana, California.

Tiny told fans that she and T.I. did not fight against MGA just for their rights, claiming they "did this for the city" and "for the culture." She also noted that it had been a lengthy court battle, but the pair couldn't be happier about the outcome.

T.I. and Tiny's legal victory comes two months after The Blast shared their move to dismiss the sexual assault lawsuit against them. The couple were sued by an Air Force member over an alleged incident from 2005

In July, the famous couple petitioned the court to dismiss the assault lawsuit against them. They vehemently denied the plaintiff's claims and argued that the allegations were "time-barred" under the law.

T.I. and Tiny's legal rep claimed the statute of limitations had expired over sixteen years ago while maintaining that the encounter between the parties had been consensual. The attorney stated:

"The facts, as alleged, reflect that [Doe] voluntarily and consciously participated in the encounter up to the point when she said 'no' and removed herself from the bed with Defendants."

T.I. and Tiny, per their lawyer, also honored the plaintiff's "expressed desire to leave the encounter, go to the bathroom, sit on a couch until the morning, and then leave."

The plaintiff, who went by Jane Doe in her filing, accused T.I. and Tiny of sexual battery, false imprisonment, and intentional infliction of emotional distress. She claimed the assault occurred when she was a 22-year-old member of the Air Force.

According to the woman, she met the couple at a club in 2005, where Tiny offered her a drink, and T.I. invited her to their Los Angeles hotel room. However, things allegedly went downhill when they arrived.

The alleged victim claimed the couple's demeanor changed with T.I. giving her "instructions for how the remainder of the night was going to go.” She became suspicious that she had been drugged after experiencing dizziness while in the shower with the pair.

After feeling sick and vomiting, the plaintiff became convinced "she was drugged by Tiny and T.I. with the drink Tiny handed her while still at the club for the purpose of sexually assaulting and battering her.”

The alleged victim argued that she "did not consent to any of the sexual assault or misconduct and did not have the capacity to consent after being drugged by Defendants."

The plaintiff stressed that T.I. and Tiny's alleged actions resulted in "severe emotional, physical, and psychological injury, including humiliation, shame, guilt, economic loss, economic capacity, and permanent emotional distress."

Based on these allegations, she sued the couple for unspecified damages.
