Cheryl Hines, best known for her role on "Curb Your Enthusiasm," has been spotted without her wedding ring following the 70-year-old Robert F. Kennedy Jr.'s alleged digital-only sexting relationship with 31-year-old New York Magazine reporter Olivia Nuzzi.
The actress, who has been married to Kennedy since 2014, celebrated her 10th anniversary with the politician last month. However, the pair have made headlines recently for a different reason.
Although Cheryl Hines has yet to publicly comment on the scandal involving her husband and a much younger political reporter, she was recently spotted without her wedding ring, fueling speculation that she may have separated from Robert F. Kennedy Jr. amid the controversy.
Cheryl Hines Spotted Without Wedding Ring
The day after reports surfaced about Kennedy’s alleged “personal relationship” with campaign reporter Olivia Nuzzi, his wife, Cheryl Hines, was seen in Milan without her wedding ring.
The 59-year-old actress attended a Milan Fashion Week after party on Friday, September 20, donning a satin top, trousers, and a leather jacket—but, according to photos obtained by DailyMail, one of her signature accessories was noticeably missing.
Her solo outing took place just before Hines' birthday on Saturday, September 21, which she shared on her Instagram Stories—without any appearance from Kennedy.
Rumors Surrounding RFK Jr.'s Personal Life Surface
On Thursday, Sept. 19, news broke about the alleged “personal relationship” between former presidential candidate Kennedy and reporter Olivia Nuzzi, following a note to readers from New York Magazine announcing her leave of absence.
The note explained that Nuzzi, 31, was placed on leave after she “engaged in a personal relationship with a former subject relevant to the 2024 campaign.” A source familiar with the situation told CNN that Nuzzi was linked to Kennedy.
The magazine further clarified that the relationship was “a violation of the magazine’s standards around conflicts of interest and disclosures,” and that if the publication had known, Nuzzi “would not have continued to cover the presidential campaign.”
Were There Red Flags All Along?
Following the actress and politician's wedding in August 2014, author Jerry Oppenheimer revealed in his book "RFK Jr.: Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and the Dark Side of the Dream" the alleged reactions of Hines' friends to the marriage.
“Any woman who gets involved with Bobby does so with her eyes open, or their brains lopped off. Any woman who thinks they’re going to change Bobby is misguided and purposefully ignorant," he said.“Women have to understand what they’re getting into when they’re with him. You can hate it, you can make excuses for it, you can do whatever you want to do, it doesn’t change the fact that he has a long history of doing certain things.”
Olivia Nuzzi Speaks Out
Shortly after the news broke, Nuzzi shared in a statement to People Magazine that “the nature of some communication” between herself and “a former reporting subject turned personal."
She added that she “did not directly report on the subject nor use them as a source” during that period.
"The relationship was never physical but should have been disclosed to prevent the appearance of a conflict,” she said. “I deeply regret not doing so immediately and apologize to those I’ve disappointed, especially my colleagues at New York."
Source Says Cheryl Hines May Leave Her Husband Following New Allegations
A source close to Hines and Kennedy, who has not been in contact with the couple since the scandal broke, expressed skepticism about the future of their relationship, hinting that it may not endure much longer.
“I’ll be shocked if Cheryl stays,” the source told the New York Post. “[Kennedy’s] always been known as a flirt and more, even Cheryl knows that. But it seemed like at least publicly he was faithful [until now]. It’s not good for Cheryl in Hollywood.”
“He was on the road a lot this year, so maybe it was different and tested the relationship,” another insider speculated to Page Six, considering the circumstances surrounding RFK Jr.’s ambitious presidential campaign, which was suspended last month.
“I don’t imagine her putting up with this. She has a backbone," the source added. "She’s not a little housewife at home. She is successful financially independent on her own.”
Cheryl Hines has yet to speak out on the allegations.
