TikTok is becoming one of the most influential social media platforms on the planet. Influencers on TikTok continue to create new trends, with the latest being a blend of your favorite morning beverage, combined with an assuming protein supplement!
To preface this fascinating trend, it would be pertinent to note that TikTok isn’t just a place for coffee videos. For those who don’t know, TikTok operates similarly to YouTube, but carries a video duration that is reminiscent of Vine. (With most videos being no longer than 15 seconds)

Proffee
Videos across numerous TikTok accounts have surfaced showing people going to Starbucks, ordering coffee, and then adding “Premier Protein”.
The combination of the two has resulted in the new beverage sensation being dubbed “Proffee”. (Protein Coffee)
Multiple sources have come forward covering the topic, with several pointing out that the mixture is actually better for you than standard creamer additives.
Sources say that it leaves you feeling full longer and reduces sugar cravings that come from many standard coffee sweeteners.

Buzzing About This New Drink!
This new trend about adding protein to coffee has spurred many to share their thoughts in the comments of these videos.
Here are just some of the numerous comments that people have left on TikTok:
“A friend of mine who had bariatric surgery told me about this about two years ago and I have been obsessed! Caramel is my fave.” (Commentator) “I do this every morning… with coffee and I’ve lost 10 lbs in the last couple weeks. (Commentator) “I drink this every morning for breakfast! I just buy the Starbucks blonde roast from target!” (Commentator)
Dietitian Weighs In
A dietitian, Amanda Li, RD, shared her thoughts about Proffee, sharing how there is an optimal time to use it in one’s diet.
“The best times to use these protein shakes is when you’re trying to add more protein to your meals or snacks,” Li explained. “If you can get protein from food first, always grab it from food, and if you can’t, then protein powders are a great alternative.”
She went on to say that if you needed extra protein and couldn’t add it to your food, this is an excellent way to fix that.
‘Listen To Your Body’
“When you have a meal that is lacking in a source of protein — for example, maybe you only have a salad and you don’t have any chicken, fish, or eggs — this would be great to just shake up and consume,” Li said.
But even with the perks, Amanda shared that this should be drunk in moderation. (Since it is still coffee after all)
“Too much of a good thing can be a bad thing, especially if you are a slow metabolizer… Otherwise, listen to your body.”
