Bombshell Report Suggests Actress Cheryl Hines Won't Stick Around After RFK Jr.'s Infidelity Scandal

Cheryl Hines, known for her role in "Curb Your Enthusiasm," has been married to Robert F. Kennedy Jr. since 2014, recently celebrating their 10th anniversary last month. But news has surfaced surrounding the couple for another reason recently.

The shocking news of 70-year-old Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s alleged digital-only sexting relationship with New York Magazine reporter Olivia Nuzzi, 31, broke on Thursday, sending ripples through the D.C. circuit and beyond.

While Cheryl Hines has yet to publicly address the scandal surrounding her husband and his much younger political reporter, sources say she is likely seething behind the scenes.

A source close to Hines and Kennedy, who hasn’t spoken to the couple since the scandal emerged, expressed doubts about the longevity of their relationship, suggesting it may not last much longer.

“I’ll be shocked if Cheryl stays,” the source told the New York Post. “[Kennedy’s] always been known as a flirt and more, even Cheryl knows that. But it seemed like at least publicly he was faithful [until now]. It’s not good for Cheryl in Hollywood.”

After the actress and the politician tied the knot in August 2014, author Jerry Oppenheimer detailed her friends’ alleged reactions in his book "RFK Jr.: Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and the Dark Side of the Dream."

“Any woman who gets involved with Bobby does so with her eyes open, or their brains lopped off. Any woman who thinks they’re going to change Bobby is misguided and purposefully ignorant," he said.“Women have to understand what they’re getting into when they’re with him. You can hate it, you can make excuses for it, you can do whatever you want to do, it doesn’t change the fact that he has a long history of doing certain things.”

Another source close to the couple revealed that Hines is no pushover at home, stating, “she has a backbone" and won't put up with the alleged infidelity.

“He was on the road a lot this year, so maybe it was different and tested the relationship,” the insider, who spoke to Page Six, speculated about the situation in light of RFK Jr.’s quixotic presidential bid, which was suspended last month.

“I don’t imagine her putting up with this. She has a backbone," the source added. "She’s not a little housewife at home. She is successful financially independent on her own.”

Olivia Nuzzi wrote about RFK Jr. for New York Magazine in the fall of 2023, and sources suggest the two began their alleged sexting relationship around the new year.

In a statement, Nuzzi acknowledged that  “the nature of some communications between myself and a former reporting subject turned personal” though she did not specifically name Kennedy.

She emphasized that the relationship was never physical.

On Thursday, reports emerged alleging that RFK Jr. cheated on Hines with Nuzzi. The New York Magazine political correspondent, who previously covered the presidential hopeful, acknowledged that “the nature of some communications between [herself and a] former reporting subject turned personal,” but maintained that nothing physical occurred.

Nuzzi, who did not specifically name Kennedy, has since been placed on leave by the publication.

“Recently our Washington Correspondent Olivia Nuzzi acknowledged to the magazine’s editors that she had engaged in a personal relationship with a former subject relevant to the 2024 campaign while she was reporting on the campaign, a violation of the magazine’s standards around conflicts of interest and disclosures,” the publication said in a statement. “Had the magazine been aware of this relationship, she would not have continued to cover the presidential campaign.”

Kennedy has faced cheating speculation, particularly involving socialite Chelsea Chapman Kirwan. Hines was previously married to Paul Young from 2002 to 2010, and they share a 20-year-old daughter, Catherine.

As for Kennedy, he has six children from his marriages to Emily Ruth Black and Mary Richardson. He reportedly engaged in multiple affairs during his marriage to Richardson, who tragically died by suicide in 2012, and is said to have documented these relationships in a journal.
