Pharrell Williams Slams Hollywood Politics Amid Rising Endorsement For Kamala Harris

Pharrell Williams is making it clear he is fed up with celebrity political endorsements as the support for Kamala Harris grows in Hollywood.

The music producer is calling out Hollywood stars, bluntly telling them to "shut up" and stop pushing their views on the public.

Pharrell Williams' complaints come as stars like Taylor Swift, Aubrey Plaza, and Stevie Nicks led the charge in the "Childless Cat Lady" trend, endorsing Kamala Harris. Other notable figures such as Megan Thee Stallion, Lance Bass, America Ferrera, and Billie Eilish have also joined the Harris/Walz train.

Williams has never been shy about sharing his thoughts, and this time, he is aiming at Hollywood stars who get involved in politics.In an interview, the music producer made it clear that he does not appreciate celebrities pushing their political views on the public.

"I don't do politics," Williams said, explaining that he gets "annoyed" when he sees famous figures telling people how to vote. While he respects some celebrities who have an opinion, he noted, "not all of them," adding:

"I'm one of them people [who says], 'What the heck? Shut up. Nobody asked you.'"

He did not mince words when calling out self-righteous behavior, saying, "When people get out there and get self-righteous and they roll up their sleeves and sh-t, and they are out there walking around with a placard: 'Shut up!'"

Williams emphasized that, while he cares about his country and his community, he prefers to focus on action rather than grandstanding.

Fox News reported that despite his firm stance against celebrity endorsements, Williams noted his commitment to voting, stating, "I'm going to vote how I'm going to vote."

Williams' response follows several high-profile endorsements for Vice President Kamala Harris, particularly the trend of the "Childless Cat Lady" remark.

The Blast reported last week that Aubrey Plaza, inspired by Taylor Swift, embraced the "childless cat lady" trope to mock conservative rhetoric while supporting Harris for President.

Plaza shared a throwback image of herself with the late Grumpy Cat, captioned "HARRIS WALZ." The post was a playful nod to Swift's own endorsement post, which featured her cat and the tag "Childless Cat Lady."

Both posts were thinly veiled responses to comments made by J.D. Vance, who previously labeled several unmarried female Democrats, including Harris, as "a bunch of childless cat ladies who are miserable at their own lives."

The legendary Fleetwood Mac singer also subtly joined Swift's playful political movement by sharing a pet post, hinting at her support for Harris. While Nicks did not directly name the Vice President, her message left little doubt. 

In a post featuring a sweet photo of herself holding her dog, Nicks credited Swift for "eloquently" highlighting the importance of researching candidates and voting in the upcoming election. 

Urging fans to get registered, Nicks added, "Only 54 days left until the election. Make sure you are registered to vote! Your vote in this election may be one of the most important things you ever do."

In a cheeky move, the star signed off with, "Childless Dog Lady," echoing Swift's earlier cat-themed post. 

The actress's endorsement of Harris quickly set social media ablaze, drawing both praise and criticism from her followers. One supporter applauded the move, writing:

"I love this cat lady chain! Go Taylor and Aubrey. Cheering you on as a Canadian literally on a border ten minutes drive to US."

Fitness influencer Noel Mulkey called out the backlash, pointing out, "A strong, smart, educated women choosing Kamala is a surprise for yall!? HOW!?? The celebrities that back Trump are Kid Rock and Hulk Hogan…. Go follow them!"

However, not all responses were positive. Some fans criticized Plaza for being out of touch, with one commenter suggesting her wealth shields her from the real-world struggles.

Another expressed disappointment, sarcastically stating, "Says the millionaire who isn't phased by inflation and the cost of living whatsoever. Get a grip."

The pop star threw her star power behind Harris' presidential campaign in an eye-catching fashion. Stepping out in a vibrant orange outfit, Perry paired her look with a camo-patterned Harris-Walz hat, making it clear where her political loyalty lies.

The Blast reported that Perry has long been a vocal supporter of the Democrats. She previously shared a video of Harris's highlights set to her empowering anthem, "Woman's World."

Her latest show of support might have been motivated by Harris' standout performance in the recent debate against Donald Trump.

As Hollywood stars continue to use their platforms to support Kamala Harris' presidential campaign, Pharrell Williams' outspoken stance against it might fuel further discussion rather than end it.
