Diddy's number one critic, Aubrey O'Day, is commemorating his recent run-in with the law as a victory for all women.
The media personality, best known as a former member of the girl group Danity Kane, applauded the federal grand jury's decision to indict her ex-mentor.
Diddy was arrested and indicted following a wave of sexual assault lawsuits, a domino effect caused by his former lover Cassie. She accused him of rape and years-long physical abuse.
Aubrey O'Day: 'I Feel Validated'
Following Diddy's indictment and arrest, O'Day marked his predicament on her Instagram Stories with a passionate message. She celebrated his downfall as a new beginning for women, writing:
"The purpose of Justice is to provide an ending and allow us the space to create a new chapter. Women never get this. I feel validated. Today is a win for women all over the world, not just me."
"Things are finally changing," O'Day concluded. In a separate post, she expressed gratitude to the journalist Yashar Ali, who reacted to her message on his IG Story.
"For years, @aubreyoday has been trying to bring attention to Diddy's abusive nature and warn people that he is dangerous," Ali noted, adding: "In exchange for her courage, she was bullied, terrorized, and threatened."
"And worse. Thank you for supporting me, babe. Xo," O'Day replied in her post. As the journalist pointed out, the singer has been vocal about her dislike for Diddy and his problematic behavior since his days as her mentor.
O'Day Slammed Diddy's Apology Video To Cassie
One of the times O'Day called out Diddy came at the heels of his apology video to Cassie. The Blast reported that the disgraced rapper shared an emotional plea to the public following evidence of his physical abuse.
O'Day addressed Diddy's lackluster apology on X, noting he failed to address the pain he caused Cassie. Instead, he tried to convince the public he had changed despite the released footage of his brutal assault.
"Diddy did not apologize to Cassie. He apologized to the world for seeing what he did," O'Day stressed in her message. She recalled the rapper had initially denied the abuse allegations, writing:
"He says he's 'disgusted [with] himself now, and he was disgusted [with] himself then'.. but apparently he wasn't disgusted enough [with] himself to not PIN this statement out calling her a liar & denying all of it.."
Aubrey O'Day's Message Sparked Similar Responses From Fans
O'Day doubled down on Diddy's apology being a PR stunt, adding, "Leave God and mercy out of this; they aren't present here, and you know it." Her message sparked similar sentiments from fans, with many labeling the disgraced rapper a "fraud."
"Yep! It is just a public relations effort. This was a last-ditch attempt for Diddy to save himself, but it has narcissism written all over it… since only someone completely self-absorbed could think a short Instagram apology is going to do anything in the eyes of the public," someone claimed.
"You stay on his neck, LOVE THIS, keep it coming because he needs to face his demons and take accountability for what he's done to Cassie," another added, while a third chimed, "Exactly! He's a fraud and just sorry it got exposed."
Diddy's Lawyer Bashed His Indictment
While Diddy received no love or support from O'Day and her like-minded fans, his lawyer, Marc Agnifilo, was happy to defend him. In a statement to The Blast, Agnifilo expressed displeasure over his indictment.
"We are disappointed with the decision to pursue what we believe is an unjust prosecution of Mr Combs by the US Attorney's Office," Agnifilo argued, noting his client's impressive record in the music industry.
"Sean 'Diddy' Combs is a music icon, self-made entrepreneur, loving family man, and proven philanthropist who has spent the last 30 years building an empire, adoring his children, and working to uplift the Black community," the legal reps claimed, adding:
"He is an imperfect person, but he Is not a criminal. To his credit, Mr. Combs has been nothing but cooperative with this investigation, and he voluntarily relocated to New York last week in anticipation of these charges."
Diddy's Attorney Pleads For Benefit Of Doubt
Despite Diddy's indictment and arrest, his attorney asked the public to have an innocent until proven guilty mindset. "Please reserve your judgment until you have all the facts," he pleaded, adding:
"These are the acts of an innocent man with nothing to hide, and he looks forward to clearing his name in court."
According to reports, Diddy was taken into custody on Monday night at about 8.30 p.m. at Park Hyatt, New York, on 57th Street. The US attorney for the Southern District of New York, Damian Williams, also confirmed his arrest on X.
Although Aubrey O'Day seems convinced about Diddy, will the music mogul be able to escape the charges against him?
