Alex Rodriguez and Jennifer Lopez broke up last week. This came after both ARod and JLo came out last month and said that the two were in fact still together and working on their relationship. According to TMZ, the two said “All the reports are inaccurate. We are working through some things.”

Sources close to the situation at the time classified their relationship as “bad.” This came as ARod was in Miami and JLo was filming a movie in the Dominican Republic.

Both ARod and JLo came out confirming the end of their engagement to TODAY in a joint statement. This is a much different situation compared to March where it was unknown if the two were officially done as a couple.

“We have realized we are better as friends and look forward to remaining so. We will continue to work together and support each other on our shared businesses and projects. We wish the best for each other and one another’s children. Out of respect for them, the only other comment we have to say is thank you to everyone who has sent kind words and support.”

Once the reports surfaced that JLo and ARod were officially done, this came as a huge surprise to fans worldwide. The two had been engaged for two years. ARod originally made his proposal to the pop superstar in the Bahamas in March of 2019. At this point though, many are looking forward to seeing who JLo ends up with next as they believe she will have a “hot girl summer.” 

ARod and JLo tried to make a run at being owners of the New York Mets last year but unfortunately, that did not fall through. This month though, ARod and his close friend, Marc Lore, ended up purchasing the NBA’s Minnesota Timberwolves. According to Page Six, sources believe that this purchased also signaled a breakup with JLo.

“It was clear they had split when she wasn’t in the Timberwolves deal like she was in the Mets bid — maybe she didn’t want to move to Minnesota,”

After the initial rumors of the ARod and JLo split in early March, more rumors surfaced about why the two supposedly ended the engagement at the time. It was said that ARod cheated on JLo with “Southern Charm” star, Madison LeCroy. LeCroy ended up denying these accusations to Page Six.

“He’s never physically cheated on his fiancée with me,” LeCroy said to Page Six. I don’t want anything bad for his family, or for mine. We are definitely innocent in this.”
