The criticism against Donald Trump's running mate, J.D. Vance, continues with Hollywood veteran Candice Bergen taking a swipe at him.

The Republican's infamous "childless cat ladies" remark made a splash at the 2024 Emmys when the actress compared Vance to former vice-president Dan Quayle.

Candice Bergen joined the ever-growing list of critics against J.D. Vance, with stars like Taylor Swift, Jennifer Aniston, and Oprah Winfrey bashing him for his bizarre comments.

The latest reaction to Vance's infamous words occurred during the Emmys in L.A. on Sunday night, with Bergen taking the stage with a hilarious joke. She compared the Republican's "childless cat ladies" comment to then-Vice President Dan Quayle's beef with "Murphy Brown."

Bergen recalled that Quayle, who served from 1989 to 1993 under President George H.W. Bush, publicly criticized the show for having her titular character, Murphy, raise her daughter as a single mom.

She sarcastically reflected on the moment, noting that the world had progressed so far that a Republican VP candidate would never attack women for having kids. Bergen finished her clap back with a "meow," winning the audience's heart.

TMZ shared that stars Jon Stewart and Mindy Kaling couldn't help but laugh while others applauded Bergen. The actress's words come days after Taylor Swift slammed Vance while endorsing Kamala Harris.

The Blast recently reported that the "Cruel Summer" singer became the latest celebrity to endorse Harris's campaign. Swift surprised her millions of followers on Instagram with a picture of herself posing with one of three cats.

She hailed Harris as a "gifted leader," telling fans she would vote for the VP and her running mate, Tim Walz, in November. As for Trump, Swift bashed the former president for using an AI-generated image of herself to promote his campaign.

Swift similarly took a swipe at Vance by calling herself a "childless cat lady." The sensational singer is well known for her love for furry creatures and owns three adorable cats, Meredith Grey, Olivia Benson, and Benjamin Button.

Before stars like Swift and Bergen aired their displeasure about Vance's "childless cat ladies" comment, Jennifer Aniston was among the first to bash the politician. She shared her disbelief on her Instagram Story, writing:

"I truly can't believe this is coming from a potential VP of The United States. All I can say is… Mr. Vance, I pray that your daughter is fortunate enough to bear children one day."

The "Friends" star's comment about Vance's daughter referenced his vote against the Right to IVF Act, which aims to safeguard access to IVF services nationwide. She hoped his stance wouldn't prevent his child from having children if she ever had fertility issues.

"We don't wonder who their partner is or how they voted. No, we just try to do the best we can to save them. And if the place happens to belong to a childless cat lady, well, we try to get that cat out too," Winfrey claimed.

The "childless cat ladies" drama began after Vance's 2021 interview resurfaced online. The viral clip captured Trump's running mate bashing women in the Democratic Party, describing them as:

"A bunch of childless cat ladies who are miserable with their own lives and the choices they've made, and so they want to make the rest of the country miserable, too."

"It's just a basic fact — you look at Kamala Harris, Pete Buttigieg, AOC — the entire future of the Democrats is controlled by people without children," Vance continued, bashing the party for letting childless women in power.
