Sam Asghari Describes First Date With Britney Spears As 'So Natural'

Actor Sam Asghari does not seem ready to discuss his relationship with Britney Spears in any great detail.
The two met on the set of her "Slumber Party" music video in 2016 and tied the knot in June 2022, only a few months after a judge struck down her controversial 13-year conservatorship. However, by August 2023, the actor filed for divorce citing irreconcilable differences as the reason for the split.
Although it has been rumored that an ironclad non-disclosure agreement is the reason behind his silence, the actor says he prefers his "privacy" and seemed focused on discussing his past in a new interview with The Hollywood Reporter.
Sam Asghari Wants Fans To 'Respect' His 'Private' Life
Even though many fans want to understand why Sam Asghari's relationship with Britney Spears broke down, the "Special Ops: Lioness" actor is not ready to open up on their years-long romance, possibly due to a reported non-disclosure agreement that he signed before their marriage.
“If my life is private, it’s private. That’s something I’m always going to respect, regardless of any agreement or not,” Asghari told the publication. “It’s just the values that I have.”
He also admitted that he has not read her memoir, "The Woman In Me," which was published in October 2023. Even though the "Gimme More" singer did not touch on the divorce in her memoir, Asghari explains, “I did not read the book because I was there.”
Sam Asghari Wanted To Be 'Professional' On Set
The former couple met on the set of the pop star's "Slumber Party" music video in 2016. The former personal trainer seemed reluctant to admit that Spears' personal assistant at the time reached out to him to see if he would be interested in a dinner date at Koi, a sushi restaurant in West Hollywood.
“I was focused on work; I was there to be professional,” Asghari recalled. “But at the same time, you know, things happen.”
The aspiring actor agreed to go on a date with the "Toxic" singer, telling the publication that their connection was "so natural."
Sam Asghari Did Not Share Details Of His Relationship With Friends
Even though the two kept their relationship private from fans, even his close friends did not know the details about his relationship.
One of his friends during the beginning of his relationship was Quinton Sales, a Los Angeles-based lawyer who was Asghari’s roommate before he moved in with Spears. Sales admitted that Asghari never divulged any details about their relationship during her conservatorship.
“I really don’t know too many details,” he said of the former couple's relationship. “Sam always handled it in an honorable, mature way. But what actually happened? I wouldn’t be privileged to know.”
Sam Asghari Wants To 'Celebrate The Past'
Even though the relationship has come to an end, the actor still wants to look back fondly on the years that he shared with his ex-wife. “When something ends, of course, there’s going to be a moment where you are sad or upset, but just be happy that it ever even happened,” he explained. “Celebrate the past. That’s how I look at it.”
Instead of looking back, he wants to focus on his future as an actor. After getting a small role in the Amazon Prime movie "Jackpot!", Asghari will appear in the next season of "The Traitors." Even though he has turned down a chance to appear in reality TV shows like "The Masked Singer" and "Celebrity Big Brother," he doesn't think that "The Traitors" will hurt his career.
Sam Asghari Discusses Appearing On 'The Traitors'
When asked why he would choose to appear on "The Traitors," Asghari explained that he was interested in the opportunity because "It was all about the game."
“There’s no time to gossip. There’s no time to have questions thrown at you," he added, going on to explain why he doesn't think appearing on a reality TV show will derail his plans to become a serious actor.
“I don’t really worry about what’s going to happen," he said. "I don’t do anything wrong, so there’s no way of trying to sabotage. If you are doing something wrong, then you have to worry about it.”
