In a shocking turn of events, award-winning singer and actress Jennifer Lopez and her fiancé baseball player, Alex Rodriguez, announced that their two-year engagement has come to an end.
Rumors about the couple’s impending split were first circulated in early March, but the lovebirds quickly debunked it. However, it seems Lopez and Rodriguez have jointly decided to give credence to the rumors as they issued a statement announcing their split, devastating their fans worldwide.
In the released statement, the former couple wrote,
“we have realized we are much better as friends and look forward to remaining so. They shared that they want to continue to work together and support each other on shared businesses and projects.”
Love Flies
Wishing each other well in future endeavors, the now ex-couple thanked the people who supported their union through the years. In the aftermath of the statement, fans of both stars had lots of opinions to share and found a gateway for their emotions on the social media platform, Twitter.
While some fans were visibly upset over the news, others made jokes about the situation while others sent their support.
A fan who appeared to be a supporter of the couple tweeted, “Damn, I really thought they were going to make it.” Some other fans did not seem surprised by the development and suggested that Lopez belonged in the dating pool as it worked better for her than engagement or marriage.
Lost Love
With a sweet love story to call theirs, the couple got engaged in March 2019 after two years of dating.
In the hope of spending forever together, they merged their family, bringing the actress’s 13-year-old twins with former husband Marc Anthony and Rodriguez’s teenage daughters with former wife Cynthia Scurtis under the same roof for the majority of the quarantine.
During an interview earlier in the year, Lopez told“Elle Magazine” that their impending wedding was postponed twice because of the pandemic. Although fans were sad about the postponement, they understood their reasons.
Forever Yours
She continued and said that they were waiting for the right time to implement all their plans for the wedding as they wanted to make the historic moment in their lives perfect.
A week before coming public with their decision to go their separate ways, Lopez, 51, who is currently filming “Shotgun Wedding” in the Dominican Republic, posted a photo of herself and Rodriguez looking like couples goals in late February.
According to an insider, the former couple seems to be on good terms as Rodriguez flew back to be with Lopez.
A Place Called Home
During their four-year union, the couple shared ownership of two properties, one in Miami and one in Encino.
In June 2019, the couple made the news after they sold their Manhattan condo for a sum of $17.5 million, making about $2 million in profit a year and a half after they first purchased it for $15 million in February of 2018.
The beautiful residence is located in one of New York City’s tallest and most coveted residential buildings. In essence, it’s the standard celebrity mansion.
The enterprising actress also owned other properties in New York, including a $10 million home in Water Mill, which she bought back in 2013 before met her ex-fiancé.
