Simone Biles Cements G.O.A.T. Status As She Debuts Another New Skill

Simone Biles is at it again, proving she’s the ultimate G.O.A.T. and never stops pushing the limits.

On Wednesday, September 11, the 27-year-old Olympic legend took to Instagram Stories to show off a jaw-dropping new skill on the beam that she’s been perfecting ahead of the "Gold Over America Tour."

Rocking a casual black hoodie and shorts, Simone Biles stunned fans by flipping into an upside-down position on the beam and then spinning her body around twice.

The crowd’s cheers were deafening as she nailed the move, and Biles couldn’t hide her excitement.

The Olympian not only flaunted her impressive new skill, but she gave a shoutout to fellow gymnast Skye Blakely.

Tagging Skye in the video, Biles wrote, “@skyeblakely Idk how you do this every day.”

The nine-time Olympic medalist has previously cemented her legacy as she has five gymnastics skills named after her.

According to the International Gymnastics Federation Code of Points, skills are named after the first gymnast to execute them in an international competition, provided the moves meet a certain difficulty threshold. Biles’ dominance in the sport has led to this incredible recognition, showcasing her unmatched prowess and influence in gymnastics.

Among Simone Biles’ impressive list of skills, her signature floor move stands out as the first to be named in her honor. The move, a double layout with a half-twist in the second flip, made its debut at the 2013 World Championships when Biles was just 16 years old.

At the 2018 World Championships, Simone Biles delivered a vault move that solidified her status as a gymnastics legend. The move features a half-twist onto the vaulting table followed by a front double full somersault off.

Biles continued to redefine gymnastics with her second-floor move named in her honor: the triple-double. Debuting at the 2019 World Championships, this move features two flips and three twists, showcasing Biles’ unparalleled skill and innovation in the sport.

Also, at the 2019 World Championships, Biles earned a new achievement with a beam move named “The Biles" -- a dismount from the balance beam that includes two twists and two flips.

Fast forward to the 2023 World Championships, and the Olympian continued to make history with a new vault move named in her honor. This Yurchenko-style vault features two flips performed in a pike position.

At just 27, Simone Biles has set 13 new records, further solidifying her status as the most decorated American gymnast ever with a total of 11 medals. But Biles’ achievements don’t stop there—she’s also joined an elite club of only 29 athletes who have earned over ten medals in their careers across both the Summer and Winter Games.

"Throughout gymnastics, as long as I’m inspiring the next generation and having fun and just making sure that it’s not all about winning," she said on a recent appearance on "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon."

"But still putting a good foot forward even when it doesn’t go your way, I think that’s what I would want it to be,” she added.

After snagging her final medal at the 2024 Olympics, Simone Biles and her teammates headed back to the Olympic Village, where the emotions started to hit hard.

"Yesterday, when we got back to the village, I looked at Jordan [Chiles], and I started balling my eyes out," Biles said on the "TODAY" show. "She was like, 'I knew it was going to happen, I just didn't know when.' I was just so full of emotion and I finally released all of that."

"I was so proud, happy, and bittersweet that the journey is over," the Olympian continued. "It’s so crazy, it happened so quick. My third Olympics."

While Simone Biles hasn’t completely closed the door on competing in a fourth Olympics, she’s still keeping fans guessing about her future plans. As of now, she hasn’t confirmed whether she’ll make a return to the Games, leaving the possibility up in the air.

"You know, you never say never," she said. "The next Olympics is on home turf [in Los Angeles] so you just never know."
