Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez have officially called it quits!

The two have called off their two-year engagement but said that they would remain friends in a joint statement given to Today. The now-former power couple originally got together in 2017 and have admittedly gone to couples therapy to help work out their issues. Page Six reported that J.Lo. called it off in March, but they denied it and said they would continue to work on their relationship. We now know how that ended... at least they will remain friends!

The couple's statement was short but sweet. However, it did say that they will continue working on their joint ventures.

"We have realized we are better as friends and look forward to remaining so. We will continue to work together and support each other on our shared businesses and projects. We wish the best for each other and one another’s children. Out of respect for them, the only other comment we have to say is thank you to everyone who has sent kind words and support."

It's unclear when the trouble in paradise started, but it seemed to stem from an alleged relationship between the former MLB star and "Southern Charm" star Madison LeCroy. Both parties denied any wrongdoing and claimed that they spoke on the phone but did not meet up. Still, looking back, that seemed to be the beginning of the end.

“He doesn’t know this woman,” a source told The Post at the time.

Shortly after the rumors hit the internet, ARod flew to the Dominican Republic, where J.Lo. is currently filming "Shotgun Wedding," to try to save the relationship allegedly. It seemed like they would make it, but fans started speculating about a breakup earlier this week when they noticed that Lopez wasn't wearing her engagement ring in a series of selfies (seen below).

Jennifer admitted that she and Alex did couples therapy during the pandemic, but she insisted that it was a good thing. "It has been actually really good. We got to work on ourselves. We did therapy. I think it was really helpful for us in our relationship,” Lopez told Allure in February.

When asked why they postponed their wedding twice, she made it clear that there was "no rush." "It’ll happen when the time is right. I feel like it’s not a huge priority to go and have a big wedding right now, that’s not what life is about,” she said.

It's now evident that the time will apparently never be right.
