After months of speculation, global star Taylor Swift took to her social media page to show her support for Vice President Kamala Harris, stating that she would vote for the Democratic nominee during the November elections.
Swift noted in her message that her decision to support Harris was solidified after she watched the recent presidential debate between Donald Trump and Harris.
Taylor Swift's decision to endorse Kamala Harris comes after she was slammed online for hugging fellow WAG Brittany Mahomes, who has subtly shown support for Donald Trump in the past weeks.
Taylor Swift Reveals She Will Be Voting For Kamala Harris And Tim Walz In The 2024 Elections
Swift has finally broken her silence on the upcoming election as she throws her support behind Harris and Walz.
The singer took to her Instagram page, saying, "Like many of you, I watched the debate tonight. If you haven't already, now is a great time to do your research on the issues at hand and the stances these candidates take on the topics that matter to you the most. As a voter, I make sure to watch and read everything I can about their proposed policies and plans for this country."
She continued, "Recently, I was made aware that AI of 'me' falsely endorsing Donald Trump's presidential run was posted to his site. It really conjured up my fears around AI, and the dangers of spreading misinformation. It brought me to the conclusion that I need to be very transparent about my actual plans for this election as a voter. The simplest way to combat misinformation is with the truth.
Concluding her post, Swift said, "I will be casting my vote for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz in the 2024 Presidential Election. I'm voting for @kamalaharris because she fights for the rights and causes I believe need a warrior to champion them."
Taylor Swift Labels Kamala Harris A 'Steady-Handed, Gifted Leader'
Still, in her lengthy social media post, Swift praised Harris, describing her as a "gifted leader" who would lead America with "calm" and not "chaos."
Swift said, "I think she is a steady-handed, gifted leader, and I believe we can accomplish so much more in this country if we are led by calm and not chaos."
The singer also had kind words for Harris's VP pick, Walz, noting that she "was so heartened and impressed by her selection of running mate @timwalz, who has been standing up for LGBTQ+ rights, IVF, and a woman's right to her own body for decades."
She concluded her message by writing, "I've done my research, and I've made my choice. Your research is all yours to do, and the choice is yours to make. I also want to say, especially to first-time voters: Remember that in order to vote, you have to be registered! I also find it's much easier to vote early. I'll link where to register and find early voting dates and info in my story."
Taylor Swift Once Condemned Donald Trump For 'Stoking The Fires Of White Supremacy'
Swift has previously spoken out against Trump and once condemned the ex-president's comments regarding protesters in 2020.
The singer tweeted at the time: "After stoking the fires of white supremacy and racism your entire presidency, you have the nerve to feign moral superiority before threatening violence? 'When the looting starts the shooting starts'??? We will vote you out in November."
That same year, Swift posted a photo of herself holding a tray of freshly baked cookies with the words "Biden/Harris 2020" written on them with blue, white, and red frosting.
The Singer Recently Came Under Fire For Hugging Brittany Mahomes Amid Trump Controversy
Swift's endorsement of Harris comes after she was criticized for her friendship with Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes' wife, Brittany Mahomes.
After Mahomes subtly showed support for Trump, some fans of the "Bad Blood" singer expected her to cut ties with the swimsuit model. These expectations were further heightened when Swift and Mahomes opted to sit in separate suites during the Chiefs' game against the Baltimore Ravens.
However, Swift shocked many when she happily hugged Mahomes at the U.S. Open on Sunday, shutting down the rumors of a feud.
Her actions led to backlash on social media, with many expressing disappointment and some claiming that her association with Mahomes was an endorsement of Trump.
At the time, Mahomes appeared to address calls for Swift to cut ties with her in a cryptic post, in which she talked about "loving someone" you disagree with.
Her post read, "Contrary to the tone of the world today….you can disagree with someone, and still love them. You can have differing views, and still be kind."
Why Taylor Swift And Mahomes Sat In Separate Suites
According to The Sun, Swift and Mahomes opted to sit separately during the Chiefs vs. Ravens game to enjoy different experiences of the NFL opener.
A source explained: "They are very good friends and they were so excited to go to the game, but they had different plans as it happens sometimes."
The insider continued: "Brittany is a family woman, and Taylor likes to enjoy the game sometimes like it's a party. They felt like they were in a different vibe for the first game of the season. They did hang out for a bit before and after the game while waiting for Patrick and Travis."
"But Brittany preferred for the first game of the season to be in a suite with family and the kids, in a bit more of a 'low key' vibe. Taylor wanted more of a 'party and drinks vibe' for the game and enjoyed it differently."
