Jeannie and Jeezy's wedding in Atlanta ultimately ended up being a smaller event than originally planned. A big factor in this situation was COVID-19 protocols, according to Jeannie to PEOPLE.
"Waiting for COVID to figure itself out, we really just boiled it down to what really matters when it comes to our life, and that is being married," explained Jeannie.
Jeannie described the wedding as a "mini one" and how she and Jeezy "wanted to make sure our family witnessed this massive moment between us."

Jeezy originally wanted to propose to Jeannie in Vietnam. The two had a vacation set but due to the COVID pandemic starting, those plans were scrapped for Jeezy so he ended up deciding on the LA proposal. With the small and private wedding with close loved ones being planned, the two just wanted to get married and not focus on everything being 100% perfect.
"After Jeezy’s mother unexpectedly passed, we quickly learned that life is too short," explained Jeannie to Vogue. "And at the end of the day, Jeezy and I really just wanted to become husband and wife. So we decided to turn our original wedding into a mini-mony, where we exchanged our vows in front of our immediate family and a few close friends.”
