Todd Chrisley's oldest son, Kyle Chrisley, is back on the wrong side of the law for allegedly assaulting a man.

The "Chrisley Knows Best" alum was arrested and booked for the crime on Monday, September 9, in Tennessee. While the Rutherford County Sheriff's Office paints Kyle in a guilty light, he begs to differ.

Kyle Chrisley is no stranger to making headlines for the wrong reasons following years of drug abuse and his previous estrangement from his father. He and Todd reconciled in 2019.

Todd Chrisley's Oldest Son Is Scheduled For Trial

A rep for the Rutherford County Sheriff's Office recently confirmed that Kyle was "charged with aggravated assault and resisting arrest." They noted he was released after posting a $6,500 bond; however, he is far from free.

A court hearing on Kyle's assault case has been scheduled for December, but the former reality TV star wasted no time pleading his case on social media. In an Instagram post, he argued that the alleged victim was the actual perpetrator.

According to Kyle, the man had been threatening him, his wife, his child, and his properties for months, trying to extort money out of him. He stressed that on the day of his arrest, the individual came into his home and physically attempted to coerce him for funds.

"I'm not allowed to defend myself and my property?" Kyle wondered, alleging the man's threats did not end there. "He RAMS my wife's car on PURPOSE screaming 'I'll be back I got you,' (ANOTHER THREAT)..while leaving," he claimed, per In Touch.

Kyle Claims Cops 'Finally' Showed Up To Arrest The Wrong Person

After the man allegedly rammed his wife's car, Kyle claimed he came back "flying through my neighborhood, revving up his car screaming out the window that he will KI** me screaming that he will run me over."

"That nowhere is safe from him that I won't run him off and don't scare him – my wife calls you hysterical pleading for an officer to help us," Kyle's statement continued, adding:

"So he leaves, and you FINALLY show up and arrest me for AGGRAVATED ASSAULT because his story is that I cut him????"

"And then charge me with resisting arrest because I'm trying to ask you why I'm being arrested and he's not?????" Kyle pointed out, claiming cops told his wife they could not tell who rammed into her because they were on private property.

The 'Chrisley Knows Best' Alum Implied Cops Did A Poor Investigation

Kyle slammed Rutherford County for running a shady investigation, claiming the alleged victim had told cops he was attacked with a machete. However, after taking pictures of a knife in his home and showing it to the officer with the man, their narrative changed.

"They show that photo to the guy, and so then you come back to get the knife from my wife and explain to her that you arrested me because the guy is injured, and he described this exact knife. Please make it make sense, Rutherford County!!!!" Kyle argued.

He concluded his message with a reference to his March 2023 arrest on felony aggravated assault in Georgia. Kyle's boss claimed he pulled a knife on him during a fight; however, the prosecutors dismissed the charges in April.

Inside Kyle and Todd's Relationship

Kyle's struggles with substance abuse divided his family, leading to a strained relationship with his father. Things worsened between him and Todd in 2014 when the patriarch and his wife, Julie, were granted custody of his daughter, Chloe.

At the time, Kyle claimed his father was using Chloe for TV ratings but changed his mind years later during Todd and Julie's tax fraud case. He took to Facebook to support the couple in August 2019, per Life & Style, writing:

"I haven't been the best dad to Chloe. I've had a problem with drugs; I've acted completely ridiculous, and through all that, they have stood by my side. Nine months ago, I went to my dad with an apology."

Todd Chrisley Supported His Son Following A Suicide Attempt

Shortly after Kyle revealed he had reconciled with his father, he was seen posing with the entire Chrisley clan from a hospital bed. Todd shared the picture on August 28, 2019, alongside the caption:

"NOT TODAY, SATAN, NOT TODAY … God shows up and shows out, now won't he do it? Kyle is great, and we are back to the grind."

Todd and Kyle shared more details about his hospitalization on the "Chrisley Confessions" podcast, with the latter noting he tried to take his life following a reaction to a medication. His father supported his claim, stating that "suicidal tendencies" were a side effect of the drug.

Todd Chrisley shares Kyle and his daughter Lindsie with his ex-wife, Teresa Terry. He and his current wife, Julie, have three children — Chase, Savannah, and Grayson.
