Beyoncé is raising the bar once again with the launch of her new whiskey, SirDavis, a new creation that’s a first-of-its-kind joint collab with Moët Hennessy.

This new product has been years in the making, inspired by Beyoncé’s deep love for Japanese whiskies. When Queen Bey reached out to Moët Hennessy, it was a match made in heaven, perfectly timed as the brand was eyeing a major move into the American whiskey scene, where they conjured up SirDavis—an innovative blend that’s as unique and bold as Beyoncé herself.

But why whiskey? Beyoncé is opening up about her new liquor product, saying that "whiskey isn't just for old men in smoky bars."

Beyoncé is spilling the tea on how she teamed up with the elite of the whiskey world to perfect SirDavis. In a new cover story for GQ, she revealed she was deeply involved in crafting the recipe to ensure it stayed true to her unique taste while maintaining top-notch quality and breaking the stereotype that it is not just for "old men in smoky bars."

"I’ll never forget the first day I had whiskey. It spoke to me nice," she recalled. "I remember thinking, 'Why have I never had this before?' It was strong and warm, just the right amount of challenge."

The artist added that she "loved the process" and "the ritual of it" because "whiskey isn’t something you just shoot down. It’s a commitment."

"You gotta have patience. I like that," Beyoncé added. "Then I got into vintage Japanese whiskey and started doing tastings. It opened up a whole new world. I love everything about whiskey. The color, the smell, the way it dances in the glass... And I love the stories that come with it."

The singer later told the outlet that "every bottle has a history" and she likes to introduce whiskey to "people who don’t know they love it yet."

"I think a lot more women would love it if they tasted it, and if they were really spoken to by the whiskey world," she speculated.

SirDavis is making waves as Moët Hennessy’s first American spirit, developed entirely in-house on U.S. soil.

"The entire aging process is a labor of love, with attention put into every step, from the grains malting to the handcrafted barrels, and I appreciate all of it," she told GQ. "Making whiskey is an art form. That’s what I love and respect about it.

The "TEXAS HOLD EM" singer wanted to make it clear that "whiskey isn’t just for old men in smoky bars" and "it’s for anyone who appreciates depth, complexity, and a bit of mystery."

"As the great Willie Nelson once said: 'Sometimes you don’t know what you love until somebody puts you on to some real good sh-t,'" she said, quoting the iconic country music singer. "So, to all the whiskey lovers out there, you’re welcome!"

The "Single Ladies" artist, who recently released a country music album, previously spoke on her whiskey brand, revealing that it is a way to "pay homage" to her great-grandfather.

“I’ve always been drawn to the power and confidence I feel when drinking quality whiskey and wanted to invite more people to experience that feeling,” Beyoncé said, per Harper's Bazaar. “When I discovered that my great-grandfather had been a moonshine man, it felt like my love for whiskey was fated."

"SirDavis is a way for me to pay homage to him, uniting us through a new shared legacy," she added. "In partnering with Moët Hennessy, we have crafted a delicious American whisky that respects tradition but also empowers people to experience something new and unique in the category. You can taste it better than I could ever tell you — welcome, SirDavis.”

More On SirDavis

According to the website, SirDavis breaks the mold with its unconventional mash bill: 51 percent rye and an impressive 49 percent malted barley.

Master distiller Lumsden, blender George, and Beyoncé herself explored a range of American and Irish whiskeys before creating a blend that’s truly “uniquely hers.”
