Tom Brady’s broadcasting debut was anything but smooth sailing, and fans couldn't help but roast the 47-year-old.
The 47-year-old NFL legend hit the mic on Sunday, teaming up with Fox Sports’ Kevin Burkhardt to call the Dallas Cowboys’ 33-17 victory over the Cleveland Browns one year after he announced he would be returning "for good" from the game after playing 23 seasons.
However, analyzing games doesn't seem as easy as playing them. Fans were quick to notice that it wasn’t all smooth talk and touchdown calls for Tom Brady's broadcasting debut.

After a year off, Tom Brady’s back in the spotlight, landing a jaw-dropping 10-year, $375 million deal with Fox Sports.
While it might take a bit for him to get relaxed in the broadcast booth, it’s tough to argue that anyone’s better suited to break down quarterback play and the game itself than the legendary Brady.
Whether he's calling the shots from the booth or making headlines with his every move, you can bet the spotlight will be firmly fixed on the legendary quarterback throughout the 2024-2025 NFL season.

Critics noted that the newly retired NFL star had some hiccups, including struggling to find his words and even letting out a burp during the first quarter. “I don't want to overreact to week 1 but Tom Brady is the worst announcer in the NFL,” one X user said.
"I’ve heard enough of Tom Brady, justice for Greg Olsen," another wrote in an X post.
"Maybe someone should have listened to Tom Brady actually say words before dropping $300 million on him," a third expressed.
"Finally, something Tom Brady f-cking sucks at," a fourth chimed in.
The retired NFL quarterback acknowledged that his first time in the booth was a bit rough, telling fans, “I’m learning a lot, believe me."

As Tom Brady’s commentary got sharper and more engaging over time, fans couldn’t help but wonder if broadcasting is really his gig. "Tom Brady is clearly quite nervous in his NFL broadcasting debut. Kinda funny to remind yourself that the greatest quarterback to ever do it is still a human being at the end of the day," one X user wrote online.
"I’ll say Tom Brady is absolutely dog sh-t, and Fox should be ashamed of what they did to Greg Olsen," one NFL fan said after hearing the retired NFL quarterback's announcing skills.
Despite the backlash, Brady acknowledged: “I’m still a rookie in here.”
It Wasn't All Bad For Tom Brady
But, he did have his moments—offering up unique insights on what it’s like to face a blitz and spotting open receivers that even the pros might miss.
“I was using my arm and my body for so many years, and now I get to a stadium and I get to use my voice,” Brady said of his new broadcasting job. “I might get out there tomorrow morning and throw some passes just to remember what it feels like. But as Michael Strahan told me in the pregame, ‘You’re going to wake up Monday morning and you aren’t going to be sore,’ and that I’m very happy about.”

With that kind of resume, even a burp on his broadcasting debut is going to make headlines.
