She was estranged from her sister and her mother for many years until their death. In her 2020 memoir, "The Meaning of Mariah Carey," the singer called Alison her "ex-sister" and noted that Alison tried to get her to use drugs and had "inflicted [her] with third-degree burns" before she became a teenager.

"When I was 12 years old, my sister drugged me with Valium, offered me a pinky nail full of cocaine ... and tried to sell me out to a pimp," Carey wrote in her memoir. "Something in me was arrested by all that trauma. That is why I often say, I'm eternally 12. I am still struggling through that time."

Carey eventually had to cut Alison out of her life so as not to be "an enabler" and maintain such broken ties for decades.

However, Alison's friend and healthcare proxy, David Baker, revealed that she had always wanted to reunite with her estranged famous sister.

Carey, unfortunately, didn't check on her all through her time in hospice care at her apartment in the small town of Coxsackie, New York.

"Alison was hurt by the way she was treated by her mother and Mariah, but she always had mixed feelings about her mother," Baker told the Daily Mail. "But I know it was her dying wish if she could've at least had a conversation with Mariah."

Alison's friend blasted Carey for neglecting her sister while she lay in her sick bed and for the official statement she released.

"It was awful because it was just all about her," Baker said. "In her eyes, it's all about Mariah and never anyone else."

"If she would've cared about her, she would've talked to Alison when she knew she was dying. It's how Mariah has been for a very long time. She will do anything to get attention and is always looking for publicity," he added.

According to People Magazine, Baker also disclosed that Carey's Sister "had a tough life" before she died at her home in Coxsackie, New York.

"We saw it coming, but it's still a shock," he said about Alison. "She got ill fairly quickly and a month later, she's gone."
